Rust on my C320 !

While washing my C320 2002, built in august 2002 , I noticed some rust on the roof near the end of the plastic strip on the driver side.
Could this be normal I have less than 12 000 miles and purchased new in February 2003 as part of a liquidation of 2002 inventory models. This is the first time I ever see it based on all the cars I previously owned and that would the last car I would expect to see it on !

You call that rust?

Its a stain....could be a metal piece under the plastic thats creating the stain...could even be organic in nature.

most likely a stain, i always find stack of dead leaf in that part, given the colour of your car is silver easy to spot the stain.

What's the chance of MB cars (C class particulary) having a rust?? Doesn't MB galvanized the whole body??

Outland is right I went to my dealer yesterday and apparently the rust is coming from a metal clip under the plastic, they will replace the plastic strip since a clip cannot be refitted twice the next time I will bring my car in for service approximately three months from now. I am not an expert in this field but if the clip is rusted and continues to drip rust on the frame of the car won't it eventually settle on the frame.

It's good that you caught that early. And yes, it will settle on the frame and create bigger problems. Good eye!

Warranty is besides the point.

The longer you leave rust, the worse it gets, and the greater chance of it coming back down the road, AFTER the warranty has expired.

Get it? Got it? Good!
