2001 C240

Need your guys (and girls) advice....

I'm considering getting the Upsolute chip. Here's their claimed specs:

Stock Chipped
Horsepower
170hp* 182hp

*actually, i think MB says it's 168hp

Torque:
166 ft/lbs 181 ft/lbs

The specs also claim slightly better fuel consumption. Do you think it's worth $375?

Thanks in advance...

A ecu mod (chip) is probably good for 6-8hp across the entire power band and you may or may not feel it. I know the claims from various companies are extreme sometimes but what I look for is how much hp do I would get in the real world. Nobody runs their car at redline all day.

Sorry, Buell gets in a lather about modding the supercharger before he even reads the posts.

I've not been very impressed with the results that I've seen out of chips for non- f/i'ed cars, and don't know if they're worth the trouble.

If you're serious about modding it, maybe you should look into a full supercharger kit. I realize that that'll cost thousands more than the Upsolute chip, but it would get you much more hp, then you could get a chip, and get even more.

It seems to me that the 240 is a tough cookie to add hp to, and might be easier to just enjoy it for what it does well.

Sorry, didn't see the C240. Chipping your car still won't yield more than 6-8hp. There's only certain things you can do with timing and fuel management. They can move up the rev limiter and let you go a little higher rpms and that may be how they achieve their claimed numbers.

Your best bet is to join the Kompressor world and get a Kleemann supercharger if it's available for the C240.
