the antenna. i couldnt put it too close to the edge because when the hatch opens it get wedged in the crack, so it has to sit forward some.

Just curious, what made you get the Skyfi over the Roady? It looks like it would have been less work to put the Roady in.

Also, how does the it sound through AUX In compared to a good FM station or CD? The FM mod sounds almost as good as an FM station.

i dunno buell. i just wanted to go thru the aux input because it was there, and i could. i now it was extra work but i did. I heard that the Aux input sounded better than the FM Mod so I decided to go that way. then for the extra display line on the SkyFi is why I went that route as well.also since i was told that if i go aux input, either the roday or skyfi should sound the same.

Hi Guys,

Like Citron, I started with the Skyfi. After the Roady became available, there was no question it looked better in the ashtray. See before and after pics (See also off topic pic of my flat hood badge I installed yesterday )

For some bizarre reason, i'm getting a message that the pic I'm trying to load is too big, even though I've posted the same size pics in the past... Maybe I'm doing something wrong.
Damn.

Question about Command-

Citron (or anyone else)-

How difficult is to install Command? I've decided I'm keeping my car for a couple more of years so I'd like to put in Command but I'm affraid it might be too complicated...
Any thoughts?

im not sure how difficult it is to install COMAND. Steve can do the install or you can if you feel confident enough. i didnt do my own COMAND install but i did do the aux cable myself using the info i found on this site.

http://home.earthlink.net/~phdwebsite/COMAND%202.0.htm

hey jmartinacevedo, i looked at the roady, and the only thing i didnt like was the wires coming off the side. i wanted every cable hidden, so i opted for the SkyFi which has the wires coming off the bottom of the cradle. i dremmeled the ashtray so the cradle could fit thru the bottom and the wires would be hidden under the console. just my own requirements, not that i thought one was better than the other. i liked the extra display line and the hidden wires.

Roady v. SkyFi

That's true - I forgot all cables were hidden with the SkyFi. I just realized that as I was looking at the pics I posted.

Both units are very good though. My SkyFi is currently in my house, and I'm using it with the home kit; the Roady is, as you can see, in my car.

Cheers!

Citron,
Do you resize your photos and always post them as jpegs? Some people post large photos, I try to keep mine below 80K, with most at 25K

Did you go to C Spot? It was getting real hot, and when I left after noon I did not see your car.

thanks. it was quite a bit of work and thanks to a handy dandy dremmel tool i was able to get it to fit in the ashtray. i have to thank buell on the idea for the extra power plug. i bought on at pep boys, and the plug and cig lighter adapter for the SkyFi are sitting behind the HVAC controls. thanks for everyones post which helped out tremendously. my brother helped me out alot too. its satisfying when you do your own work and it turns out so well. plus saving from install fees helps alot too. Best Buy wanted $150 just to install.

actually i downsize them 50% and i should do 25%from now on. yeah i was at C-Spot. got there about 10 to 1pm. left about 4pm. had a great time. saw a few coupes with 05 lights as well. i had a blast. more people this year than last year and the lines were longer to drive. i went to san diego c-spot last year though. all in all i had a great time. it was hot though. btw way i parked in the last aisle facing the dirt furthest away from the building.

hey jmartinacevedo, whats the part number to your climatronic?

the digital climate control like those found in the C320 Sedan and CLK's. i believe it is an option on the C240's. alot of people have retrofitted them into their vehicles. i bought one but it didnt work for me and sold it to another coupe owner who installed it and it worked fine on his. it is not guaranteed to work with your vehicle. i dont know why, i know from what ive read and from experience, that what works on others may not work on yours. im still trying to get one that will work on mine.

yeah well, i wouldnt have put the roady in my car because of the wires coming out of the side. just me. i was also willing to pay $800 without installation for MB sirius. the SkyFi was my only option I was willing to go for. i didnt want to wait 6 months for the MB sirius unit, plus i found out after i already canceled my order i couldnt use it anyhow unless i get a COMAND with a Sat button, and I wasnt gonna buy a COMAND w/ Sat, then pay $800 for sirius receiver for satellite radio. mine works just fine.

Hey, I paid full price also, can't win them all, at leat you can take yours back for a refund.

Did you buy an MB yesterday after the big party? They now show the C's for over 5K off, that's a C230 sedan for about $23K ($20K for a coupe) with our coupon, not too shabby. Certainly has peaked my interest....

You can usually special order any color from Mercedes, ask if they will paint a Citron Green on a 2005 and for extra money they will do it. And it won't be as expemsive as the desingio colors.
