I bought a C230K and, yes, it is my first. I think I was the targeted demographic.

I am also a first time MB buyer.. I allways been a Mustang guy but time was coming for a change, so since i loved MB's the c230 was a great choice for me.

I guess I hit the target demographic perfectly as well. 27yo male, first time MB owner. They pulled me away from my beloved Saabs with this little hatch. I wonder if I could strap on a Viggen turbo kit to my C230...

i see how the addicts are formed. mb did a good job of creating a car that i wanted, for a price i could afford. my eyes are now opened to the world of fine automobiles. i see my self owning this car for 3-4 years. i already have my eye on the car after that. it will be a used sc430. i would have one now if it wasn't for the price.

I'm a first time M-B owner (or will be next month anyway! )

If not for my wife mentioning we should test drive the Benz as long as we were out that afternoon, I'd probably be in my, um, fourth(?) or is that fifth(?) VW right now; I was all set to get a 1.8t Jetta when she convinced me to at least drive the Benz.

I'm older than the "target" audience i think (39)... but so what!

I think if you look at the marketing demographics on this car, you would find a lot if 30 somethings. The average Benz buy is 52. Think they were after anything younger than that. The life time of a customer at 52 is only a few more cars.

I think they screwed up with the demographics for this car... it is appealing to a lot wider audience than they anticipated... not that that is a bad thing.
Good for MB though... although the purists may think otherwise.

2005 smart cabrio; 2008 Mercedes-Benz B 200
target age

My Dad will be the main owner of the C 230 K (I am a co-owner).

He is 76 years old and it'll be his first Benz. He almost bought a 220 SE in 1963 factory direct but couldn't due to an untimely job transfer back to Canada.

The car should be here in about 4 weeks.

Galaxy Girl

My wife insisted I get whatever I wanted (within reason) for my 50th. I chose the C32. Galaxy do you think that at 50, since I only have a couple of cars yet to choose, I made a good choice?

I know that I was in the target group for this car, but unless they start putting standard transmissions in more cars, I don't see myself buying a sedan from them

i agree with that statement. I hope they offer the amg cars and their regular cars with 6 speeds in the future. Or could you imagine how sick a 6 speed sl 500 would be.

Funny you should mention that.. there is a 6speed manual transmission for the New E Class sedan. Hopefully as arrival nears, we should get more information.

i ordered the stick on my coupe, but if a paddle shifted six speed would be optional, i would have gotten that in a heart beat. i just love those quazi f1 shifters. imo modern automatics are awesome. it is just that i want a little more control. i hear the m3 has an optional paddle shifter that is the best of both worlds. i haven't seen it myself

Wow, it's amazing that so many are coupe owners. I'm in the forty something crowd and this is my fourth lemon, I mean Mercedes.

Other?

So who voted "other" and which car do you have?
I know there may be some models not offered in the US but I only know of the C 200K.
Any others?

hey buell
if you had 3 lemons before why on earth would you buy a fourth? i mean honestly the first time shame on them, the second time it should have been shame on you, and the third and fourth time, i just don't understand. i don't think i have ever experienced a warranty related problem myself, with any car i have owned. do you recommend me getting the extended warranty when my coupe comes in. and do you attribute your lemons to just plain bad luck?
puzzled
