C300 4matic
Mercedes C300 brake job opinion

I have a Mercedesc Benz C300 Sports 3.6 which needs a new brake and rotors (front and back). It has 58k miles on it. I have gotten a quote of $1380 from Mercedes Benz. I have a local mechanic who is ready to do the whole thing for $980 and will
install the OEM parts. My question is considering this is mercedes, is this something which needs to be done from Mercedes. What is the opinion of the community. Is the saving of $400 worth it.
A side note is I am looking to sell this car next year, when the factory warranty expires on this car

Currently: 2005 C240 4matic wagon. Previously: 2001 C320 sedan.
Brakes are easily something anyone should be able to do. I'm not sure where you are located or which model year you have so I cannot comment on whether those prices sound fair. To give some perspective, our 2005 C240 4matic would cost a little over $800 for front and rear brake pads, rotors, and a full brake flush. I'd save the money and pay a local mechanic or go one step further and do the work myself.
