Parktronic in Action
Here is a picture of my parktronic system in the works. Just as a note on how it works... THere are 10 sensors. 6 front and 4 rear. The car is divided into 4 quadrants. front left, front right, rear left, and rear right. There is a display in front dash and rear dome light display. Each display will show 2 quadrants. So the front one shows the front left and front right. etc... The system can be left on all the time. Rear comes on only when car is in reverse. The front will turn off when car reaches 15mph even if the main switch is on. Also, the displays will dim automatically with the headlights being on. This pretty much summerizes the system. Total parts include the control unit, 10 sensors, sensor retainer rings and washers, front and rear bumber impact strips, rear bumber harness, front bumper harness, rear display harnes, front display harness, Main Harness, front display, rear display, and front dash hump to accomidate the display. In addition to this, 6 clips for holding the front bumper harness in place.

the parktronic has to be set to present any error codes have to be cleared in the PTS control module memory before it will work. I estimated parts at 1500 dollars. I am not too sure but I think was around that much for the whole thing. The rear is about half of that. Also the parking heater has been discussed before but to summerize it, it is a small heater made by webasto that sits in your front right fender wall. Lower part. It heats the radiator fluid up and circulates it adn then warms the interior of your car. IT gets fuel from the main tank and uses it at a rate of 1 liter per hour. WHich is much less than running the main engine. Also there is a remote to activate the heater from 800 meters away or you can program certain times of the day as in the instrument cluster. Upto 3 times per day but you cannot specify which days.

hey sunman, do you have a parts number list for parktronic. i think it may be a little different since you have a sedan and i have a coupe. im planning on buying it the end of the year. my biggest concern is painting each sensor citron green, and using the proper paint!

painting the sensors would not be a problem. your can color code match the color of the paint so that is ok. The parts list is pretty extensive and I need to make a word file of it since many people ask for it. I will do that soon. Also, all the parts are exactly the same except for the main harness as the length will be shorter in your car. You can also opt for getting the rear only system if you want to try that first and then upgrade to full PTS./

thanks! the rear only may be an option but most likely i will get the entire PTS. i figure that my rear impact strip and front impact strips will be different due to my car being a coupe. thanks sunman for your help!
