Clutch pedal noise
Ever noticed if your clutch pedal (in a C-coupe) makes a soft squeaky noise? You can hear it if you pay attention.
Mine does that sometimes and the dealer says it's normal, it's the sound of that red spring compressing and releasing. Sounds a bit annoying.
Maybe I should use MB-BOB's technique and give a GM dealer chance to fix it

Hey VoyagerDude, Mine does not make that noise. I never noticed it on my C230. I guess some of these cars come with this problem and some dont.

I had a noisy clutch pedal problem crop up in my C Coupe at about 4K miles. Turned out to be the starter lock-out switch on the floor, the dealer replaced it and no more noisy clutch pedal. It was a consistent noise every time I depressed the pedal.

Sounds like a not too loud screeching noice, followed by a slight click, everytime I press the clutch pedal.
I should pay a visit to my dealer.

Went to the dealer this morning to pick up some touch up paint and leather cleaner and showed the service guy the squeaky clutch pedal.... for the 3rd time now.
After the initial "it's normal" B.S. and me whining they finally brought in a couple of actual techs. The problem was confirmed and I'm booked for next monday to fix it.
Those service-goofs...
Anyways saw a citron green coupe with Evolution, looked pretty good (no leather no pan.roof) still Silver is the way to go (and orion and so on...)

My C240 clutch squeaks a bit also, and I had mentioned this in an earlier post. It sounds like a spring. I thought it was worse in colder weather, but I think it's still doing it. When the techs looked at it, what did they decide it was that they'll be fixing?

- first half of travel: a sound of a spring compressing
- a click
- last half of travel: the squeaky-screachy noise
The didn't know what they were gonna fix, just wanted the car to take some panel off and have a closer look. As soon as I find out, I'll let you know.

That sounds much worse than mine. I notice a slight "springy" sound during the last inch of travel (toward the floor). I'd still be interested in knowing what happens. Good luck!

I can't beleive I actually recorded a little movie about this clutch pedal. To my defence it was young's idea.
The movie is HERE
It's about 770KB and it uses the DivX video codec, if you don't have this codec you can get it here:
http://www.divx.com/divx/
Audio is compressed with MP3 so it should be no problem.

I took my C240 in to have the clutch looked at back in May - they told me the click you hear at the end of the clutch travel is normal. It is some sort of switch - maybe to electronically tell the clutch to disengage to prevent you from riding it???
