How do I remove this front drain tube
When I bought my car about 18 months ago, the drains in the cowl beneath the windshield were blocked. I was able to clean them out with the exception of the drain that is about two feet from the driver's side of the car. It is between the two windshield wiper arms and to the right of the plastic engine cover. (I have attached pictures showing the location.) I have used water, compressed air and various objects such as coat hangers. While I have been partially successful and some water drains through, it takes a significant amount of time to drain and more effort is needed.
On Saturday, I attempted to remove the tube from above and underneath the car on the theory that I might be more successful cleaning the tube when it was off the car. (I had to remove a similar tube that ran near the battery so that I could clean it thoroughly.)
Distant shot showing location - look to the right of the black plastic engine cover.
Close up showing the tube connected to the opening in the cowl.
Medium-range shot showing drain tube disconnected from the cowl.
I cannot tell how it is supposed to come off, so I only used mild force to avoid breaking anything. Does anyone know whether it can be removed, or how it is attached? If it can be removed, should I pull it forward (away from the firewall) or pull it up?
Thanks in advance.

I’d take advantage of a wrecking/recycling/junk yard trip to “find out” how if you don’t have WIS. I’d recommend getting a WIS DVD.
That said, I’ve used and witnessed good old green weed trimmer line (on a large spool) for similar jobs, including rear sunroof drains with success,

I will try that tonight. I have been poking and prodding it and it is draining slightly more quickly, but I have more work to do.
