Financing an 05 C230
What interest rate have others gotten from MB on a 2005 C230 sports sedan? According to Edmunds, a special rate of 1.9% is being offered. The dealership told me the best rate offered by MB is 2.9% on that vehicle. Are they jacking me around, or is Edmunds incorrect?

Not that this helps, but 2.9% is a great rate, and I wouldn't sweat it. There is so much fine print associated with that special financing deals the dealer is probably right. Take a look at MBUSA and see if you can find information on the special financing you're talking about. I wouldn't get upset about something on Edmunds.com, maybe on MBUSA, but not Edmunds. Over the term of your loan 1% is pocket change, don't sweat it. Close the deal, and enjoy your new car!

The numbers you mentioned doesn't mean anything unless you also define the term length. It could very well be that 1.9% is offered for a shorter term than you want/need/etc. Therefore they upped it to 2.9%.

I got 5.3% but my buddy got 1.9% because that's what was offered on the C240's. Different cars have difference incentives. I didn't care because my loan was so small the difference between 5.3 and 2.9 was only a few dollars a month. BTW, the going rate at banks is 4.3% so for them to give you 2.9% they have to pay to buy the rate down. For me it was either I take the lower rate or give up on the price incentive. So your dealer would be happy to give you 2.9% if you pay a higher price for the car.

It all depends on the deal. The dealer has to pay for the lower finance rate so you won't get as good a deal as you could have otherwise. For example, I got a C230 Sedan that stickered for $32K for $7K off with C-Spot, that's way below cost, even after you factor the incentive, the c-spot and profit so in my case, there's not incentive for them to buy down the rate. Same person walks in and pays $3k more for the car, still thinks they got a deal and they got 1.9% financing, they are happy. Talk to the finance guy and see what the finance costs so you know how it affects your deal. If he has to pay 2% of the finance amount then prepare to pay 2% more for the car.

Well, we just got a 2004 C240 over the weekend and was offer 1.9% on top of the $1500 coupon. I haven't given them the C coupon yet cos I still need to ebay that. The 1.9% was offer with any number of months up to 60 months.

I just got my 05 C230k this past sunday (will post pict. later). What I did was make the deal which was ~4000 off the MSRP with C-spot. After everything was done I told them I had a C-spot. You should of seen the sales managers face, it was beautiful. My interest rate was 2.9% which was almost 2% less than what my credit union was offering me. I calculated how much I would end up paying (extra) after all payments were made. I came out to ~1500 which equals $300 per year. Which I can definately live with. Hope this helps.

Sounds like a great deal. I just wish the promotional interest rate will continue into July when I am more ready to buy. I also have a C-Spot coupon and can't wait to use it.
What city are you in?

With the recent and upcoming interest rate hikes there likely won't be as good deals on financing as there has been.
It's amusing when the factory gives lower rates on longer term or higher balance loans.
One would think they wouldn't want their money stuck out there once the Greenspan party begins.
