P0303, Could Small Tear in Wiring Behind Coil Connector Cause This?

Hello,

My 2004 c230 is at 104,000 miles and I'm getting P0303 error. I have:

1. changed all spark plugs at 90,000
2. changed the fuel filter at 98,000
3. changed fuel pump at 80,000
4. replaced all 4 coils yesterday

The P0303 code remains, even after switching coils, cleaning plugs etc.

There was oil on the spark plugs when I took them out an looked at, and cleaned them (1, 2 and 3).

I do notice however a small tear in the insulator on on wire behind the coil connector wiring on cylinder 3, and the copper is showing.

How likely is it that this is the culprit?

Any advice on troubleshooting from his point forth would be appreciated.

Thanks

Marty

That can do it. Make sure there are no breaks in the wiring (add some solder if needed), and seal it up with some epoxy. The ECU is sending a signal to spark and something is causing it to not happen. Any idea how the wiring damage happened?
