New Bulbs

Just got a new set of Piaa H7 Bulbs for the high and low beams. It says they are 4000 Kelvin. I'll find out this weekend when I put them in.

What type did you buy? I ran Xtreme White H7s for about 2 years until they burned out, currently running Silverstar bulbs for my lowbeams.

They are PIAA Extreme White Plus. 55 watts, but they are suppose to put out the equivalent to 110 Watts. I hope they last longer than two years.

I definitely hope so too. Here's a tip: right before you lock the bulb assembly back into its socket, rub the bulb down very thoroughly with an alcohol pad. That'll remove all traces of oil that may have gotten on it at any point during your installation.

The only thing I kinda disliked about the Xtreme White bulbs is that they were a lot dimmer than stock. Not good for illumination on dark streets.

LOL
Not that marketing again. I think Buellwinkle once explained that one on here.

Sadly, the way mfrs get extra light out of a 55 W bulb without increasing the wattage is to make the filament thinner or to make it burn hotter. Either one decreases bulb life, another illustration that you can't get something for nothing.

Since I don't do a lot of night time driving, hopefuly it won't be an issue. If they last longer than two years, I'll be happy.
