Kinda wish I had gotten the Bose...

Leland,
The only reason I didn't get the Bose was because the closest car to my specs was already on the boat and it did not have the Bose upgrade, and I didn't think I could wait 3-6 months to order one. Now that I got the Audio 10, it sounds so much better, I am greedy and wonder even how much more the Bose would have helped. The stock rear door speakers kinda suck. Nevertheless, the Audio 10 was a much needed improvement.

I've been experiencing this problem where if I start the car with the cd player on, no music will come out and it won't really work. but if I start the car with the cd player off, it'll turn on fine. WTF!? Also, if the car is at a stopped and off and I turn the key to position one I can hear this soft crackling coming out of the right speaker ... hard to detect but I am OCD ... erf I hate these problems!

(Also my car is pulling right like a **** ... I'm getting it checked out for the THIRD TIME thursday ...)

Since I installed the Audio 10, whenever I start the car, regardless of which mode it's in (radio or CD), it takes about 5 seconds of dead air before it makes any sound. After that, no problem. I did notice something that seemed different, and I don't recall whether the stock unit did this or not: When I turn the key off, and I turn the radio back on with the push button, the steering wheel controls don't work. I have to use the knob. Anyway, those are my only issues so far.

Just got one from eBay.de for €226... Decided to bid after reading how much better its sound quality is compared to the stock cassette unit. Plus, I too, like in-dash CD players...

Luckily, there was one going and about to close in 5 minutes... Boy, that was quick Glad to join the Audio 10 club

Thanks for the info, fellahs!!

I've been looking for a way to pay since the seller wants a wire transfer. I went to Bank of America and they wanted $45 to wire money to Germany. I found a website run by CitiBank, www.c2it.com that will wire funds for only $15. Not too bad considering an international postal money order and global priority mail to send it is almost that. If anyone finds a better deal let me know. He didn't want to do paypal.

Thanks for outbidding me. Turns out I'm getting one for €190 instead of the 210+ I was planning on spending...

Oh my god! I'm so sorry!!!

I'm glad it had worked out well for you in the end... But make sure it's a W203 model - older ones are incompatible...

Have you figured out the method of payment yet?

Good luck with the rest of the transaction!

What have some of you been paying for shipping from Germany for the Audio 10? I'm still waiting to hear back on the shipping charges. It's a national holiday on Wednesday in Germany so banks and post office are closed.

Don't worry about it just kidding around, although I was bidding.

Yup making sure, for sure! You can tell by the shape of the buttons and curves (and of course the part no.) ...

Have you figured out the method of payment yet?
I'll probably do a bank transfer from my credit union they only charge about $2 to do it.

Good luck with yours as well.

Just got a reply from the seller in Germany... He quoted me $80 for shipping!!! Has anyone had any experience with delivery from overseas? Is this figure correct?

U.S. Global Priority Mail to him would be about $10. I'm expecting the same coming here. I bought a C230 model and it costs 6dm (or $3.50) to ship it here. He must have gone to FedEx or DHL to get those rates. Tell him to go to the post office. It should take about a week to 10 days to get here.

Agreed on $25 + $13 air mail option which I skipped... Turned out he had quoted me the price in EUR instead of USD

Just confirming with everyone here. The Audio 10 CD is the same as APS 10 CD, correct? I have confirmed that the unit in Question is for the New C-Class W203. Just want to make sure that it could be referred to either way.

Hmm, I wouldn't be too sure about that. The APS-systems usually incorporates some kind of navigation system. For example: The "MB Audio 30", is often referred to as "MB Audio 30 APS", which is a simple navigation-device. My guess is that "APS" is meant to be an abbrevation of something like "Auto Positioning System" or something like that. On the other hand, I've never heard of a Audio 10 APS, so maybe the people referring to it just mean The Audio 10 CD (which should be the correct name).

Just my .02

strangely, that seems to be the thing with euro CD players... the changer in my mom's ML320 is like that, and the CD in my Z3 is too. the Pioneer aftermarket in my wife's old integra was the same.

The fellow I am buying it from works for the parent company of Recaro in Germany. Seems pretty knowledgable, but referred to it as the APS 10.

Well, maybe they just renamed it for the 2003 lineup?
