Valeo alternator brushes and regulator
2005 c230 Alternator light on dash comes on at high rpms, works well normally “bring to dealer or shop” is what it says. I removed it and there is a buildup of oil on the brushes and regulator. Will that affect it at high rpms?

It could. At higher RPMs it will get hotter. I'd clean the rotor and brush contact surface, but then again, the brushes may be about gone, so you might want a new regulator (which comes with new brushes).

Do you know where the oil is coming from? Need to check that out too.
