Lightbulb Glovebox-style CD Changer: Seeking info

Hey y'all!
I've got a '03 c240 with a glovebox style six disk changer, and it's been out of commission for 3 years. I've tried every trick short of pulling it out, and the last year have mostly given up & been using my tape deck with a bluetooth tape.
But! I've got a weekend. I've got tools. I've got a little bit of computer-building skills (and an expert at my beck&call). I've got up to $50. Which is all to say, that I want to hardwire in a custom bluetooth receiver before the end of the decade, and start 2020 with no cd changer in my car. I've got no doubt I can get the receiver built within my budget. (Maybe not nicely, but hey! We're plugging in to the back of the glovebox. Nice is irrelevant.) Mostly, I'm hunting for specs on the 6-disk changer itself, because the more I know about the thing I'm eliminating, the more I know about what I need to do to seamlessly replace it. The more I know before I remove it, the more prepared I can be!

If you know:
-The voltage
-The type of plug(s?)
-If the plugs carry power, or just audio info? ie, the use of the battery in the changer, ie, do I need a power supply in the bt receiver?
-Any other relevant info that you think could help!
-Words of encouragement
All would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Assuming you have the in dash cassette player, there are instructions on the site for connecting directly to the
HU. The CD player is on an optical loop called DB2.
There is or was a thread around here somewhere on installing a BT unit from
a company called Parrot, and the person who installed it, also integrated into the buttons on the steering wheel.
Either here, or on benzworld.org

Myself, I installed an in dash FM transmitter, but doesn't
work that well. I suggest seeing what's out there these days.
Lots of new stuff available.

I do have the dash cassette player - which site are the instructions on? This one??
Also, can you explain what is an 'optical loop'? I've never heard of that before. All google gives me is data about / purchase links for fiber optic cables.

The current lineup of Parrot kits are both out of my price range, and way more intense than I'm looking for. I've got no need for calling, or any of that. Just simple music. I've plugged BT receivers (both commercial and hijacked) into various stereos / speaker systems before, and that's all I'm after here; I'm just not positive on how the wiring will be different in a car! XD Before, I've only used 3.5mm headphone-style jacks.

My BT tape has decent sound quality, but the nature of the cassette player means it's gotta be cordless, and it only lasts about 4~6 hrs/charge. The region I live/commute in makes using FM transmitters all but useless; they spend so much time scanning that you don't get much play-time, and it's never seamless. If this works out, I'll do an instructional write-up so y'all can switch too if ya want.

Thanks!!
