It really does work but it will not get you out of a ticket if you are going 110+ but if you are going 85-90 it will sure help. It always could make the cop write you up for less than you were really going that that could yield driving shcool instead of automatic points on your record.

Good foundation and a great cause.

I dont get it. I have a 2005 C230k daily driver (one of the best cars I have had to date) and I keep almsot getting caught speeding. In my 500hp beasts I have far less trouble. I dont get it.

Tickets

Driving an MB will make a cop less inclined to let you go. They don't realize that most MB owners work for a living and the bad examples of a few make us all pay for their arrogance.

Werd!! When I got my license overseas, I was tested by an MP (Military Police)... he told me something similar that dosn't "always" get you out of a situation YOU created, but it shows respect and helps.

What I was told:

"turn off car, never reach for glovebox, open driver window, turn off radio, place your hands at 2 & 10 on the stearing wheel and leave them there until you are asked to provide license, etc..."

but removing keys and placing them on the dash is a GREAT thing to add!

And the judge will also not be lenient with you......when I went to court I got two tickets reduced to one and 2 points. judge says your taking prosecuters deal......lawyer says yes. judge says ok, but he let me have it. ------ If it were up to me I'd have your liscence for ever.......don't ever let me see you here again.....etcetc......That will be $500 fine......My lawyer---judge he's a student could you put him on a plan...judge grabs sheet of paper and looks and says "a student driving a 2005 Mercedes........Hock it! pay it in full today.....He's got it! I was like wow! -----I almost **** in my pants.......so it kinda does make a difference. I bet if I were in a honda he would have never said that lol! He was right I did have it though cause I was expecting it. lol! First ticket too btw!

I see your point, but not always true. I live in the state that has the highest percentage of uninsured motorists (Colorado)... most cops spend most of their day looking to see if people have these three: insurance, seatbelt on, no felonies.

They may use any trick in the book to pull you over and check for the three things listed above. Friend of mine is a local Sheriff deputy, and says that he doesn’t pull over expensive cars in this region cause chances are they are intelligent enough to carry insurance; and unless the car has drug-dealer 22 inch spinner rims, chances are that the person also doesn't have felonies.

Unless you blow by them doing 110 and make them spill their coffee...

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Funny

What about that one dude who had the story with the new CLK? (hope I can get it right)

Just bought a CLK, on the highway this dude opens the car up and gets tagged by a Trooper. The dude in the CLK thinks, hmmm I can outrun this cop. So he starts to, but realizes that he is making a big mistake and pulles over. Cop walks up to the window and asks, what the hell were you driving so fast for.... CLK driver's response was: "My wife ran off with a cop last month, and I thought you were trying to bring her back". The Trooper gets such a good laugh out of it, he let him go.

I've heard that one before, but not sure if it's true... either way, very entertaining!

Getting Clocked

Tennessee State Police do alot of laser. Usually they are gunning for truckers passing through on I-65, I-40 or I-24, figuring they will pay the ticket and not show up for court.

They admit that unless you are more than 10 over they "usually" won't go after you. To keep it safe I travel right behind a pack of other cars and try to keep it reasonable. But temptation does take over and I open it up a bit.

There have been a few close calls, a few times I got lights flashed at me by a trooper and a couple of times that the guy who was in front (or passing) of me got busted.

This is the only place where I have seen police with a laser unit hidden behind an abandoned car on the highway, shooting laser. When they get you the guy steps into traffic, right in front of your car and gestures briskly, ordering you to pull over.

I think people stop more from the idea that a cop who has the b*lls to step in front of your car at 70 miles an hour. You just KNOW that if you make him get into his car (or the one hidden a mile down the road), then they are going to write you a tablet full of tickets.

Doing this and being respectfuly has gotten me out of all but one speeding ticket. There were many possiblities

The one that I got anyway was double the posted limit, in a work zone, and I was baited by undercovers. Ultimately, I got out of the ticket, but not at the scene. I was told I was lucky I wasn't going to jail and the car being impounded by CT laws regarding reckless driving.

In Portugal we have cops in undercover cars (civil cars) with radars and filming cameras, and we all have to search for black BMW's 330d (192hp + schintzer ecu upgrade 245hp) blue + silver + black Subaru impreza (300hp), audi A4 1.8T (180hp+ ecu upgrade 220hp) and I'm lucky not to live in germany or italy where the cops have porsche 911 and lamborghini gallardo!!!
With so nice cars the cops always want to race and the people who don't realize that is a cop car they are F....

My father have a 4 year suspended fine afyer paying 1000€ for doing 87m/h in a 31 zone 2 days after buying his new CLK200K in 1998 (straight road outside of town at 23pm, hiding radar) he manged to get out with this fine because he told to the judge that all his job and company depended on his mobility :p or else 3 months without driving

After 2 years he get caugth again with one of those BMW doing 130, he presented in court a hospital urgency entry paper, and he managed to get out of that again with a 100€ fine because he was in a rush because he was not feeling well

Wouldn't cops provoking you to race be considered as entrapment? That story is from portugal though and i do not know the laws there, but i don't think that will be happening in the US anytime soon...least i hope it won't

Laws regarding entrapment here exist but they do not lend themselves to you at the least.

My CT Reckless was entrapment, how do you suppose I proved it. No dash video, just a couple of younger guys (state troopers) in an import with visor lights. It looked like a CD holder, until he flipped it down.

They are doing the same thing in VA. They impound and then use imports to literally troll the roads. Get you to have a go at them, then a cop pulls up and lights you up. Street Racing ticket/ reckless, etc.

I remember when I had my tricked out 190E in Germany, the shop I used to go to had a black SL sitting there... I started to check it out and noticed some heavy suspension mods. My friend who ran the shop came out and opened the hood you couldn't fit a tooth-pick under that hood anymore! It was jam-packed!!! It was the undercover autobahn cruiser for the Keiserslautern Polizei and he was doing a tuneup on it.

Yeah, but what we could do???
They only start recording after forcing us to speed up
Who doesn't recognise the car definitively would accelerate, but only SOME cops do this

here is some fantastic pics:
