Upgrading my '04 bumper to '05 sport bumper....

Will all the hardware(lighting, molding, etc) transition over to the new style bumper or will I need to buy new stuff? Thanks

It will fit fine and certainly worth the thousands of dollars it will cost to buy and have painted.

it will fit, but IMO, two words:

cost prohibitive!

buell said for parts as well as painting. you will then want to blend in the hood and fender areas so it matches nicely. it will require more than just buying a bumper and painting it. also there are all the new mesh peices on the underside and possibly different fog lights. then to prime/paint the new bumper, fade and blend in existing areas, you are looking at more than its worth IMO.

if you need a bumper because you got in an accident, thats one thing, just to do for the look, well its your money, but you should really price out what all you need.

bumper
lower mesh (3 pieces)
possibly new fogs
maybe the impact strips (i know on the coupe they are new, not sure about the sedan)

paint and labor

$$$$$$$$$$$$

Yeah, you got a point. I talked to my friends dad and he told me that on a brand new car(1 week old) and also the fact that it is black and a nonflowing panel(flowing is front door to rear door) you don't really need to blend. He feels he can match it without a problem. But the paint work will still cost about 400 which includes the sideskirts. He does good quality work and he's giving me a good price since I use to work for him during my college summers. Also, from my understanding, everything transitions over but I would need to buy the mesh grills. I guess I will give it some more thought before taking the plunge. Thanks for the advice guys.

I thought about this mod too but I don't think the cost justifies it. I would rather stash the money for a down payment on a C55....or dare I say an S4 or S60 R. Besides the way I see it is this.....I like a clean factory look. The '04.5 was the only year to have the sport model bumper combined with the lower ride height and big breaks. So there, you are different. I just got new wheels, took off the ghey "sport" emblem, added Lorinser Bumper Strips and a flat hood emblem, and the look has changed dramatically.

if I was mischievous I would report 'hit and run' on my bumpers to my insurance and have them replace them with the new bumpers...but then again if I was mischevious I would do that.....muhuhuhuhahhahahaaa
