C270CDI Avantgarde 2001 Sedan AMG rims and skirts
Question 270cdi

Don't know if there are any others on the forum with a c270cdi, but I've been wondering what exactly the differences are between the 270CDI which is in the C at the moment (the OM612 if I'm corrent) and the 270CDI in the E class (the OM647).

The new engine has got 7HP more (177HP) and 25Nm of torque (425). My dealer told be it also has tougher crankshaft.

Anybody got other details?

Thanks,

Mark

if I were to guess (based on what you are telling me and the "numbers"), I would think that one is simply an evolution of the other. the tougher crank, maybe a better software package, (does MB do variable-valve-timing?), maybe a revised intake manifold, or a better-flowing head design... it could also just be a less restrictive intake and exhaust...

with only 7hp difference, sounds pretty evolutional.

I thought it was evolutional too, but I saw the announcement of the C30CDI AMG (http://www.jes-mercedes.de/ ). Why are they doing this with the new 270CDI from the E and not with the existing. Unfortunatly it doesn't say what the performance figures will be...
