Mash the gas...responds with Limp Mode
On a few occasions I have opted to mash on the gas a little, either from a dead stop or from roughly 15-20 MPH. When I do this, it has caused the car to go into limp mode. Almost as if the car is telling me "Hey buddy...slow down. At least take me to dinner first". Something I should be looking for? Does the 03 coupe have a gearshift module of some sort that might be causing it?

Totally forgot I had posted this, till it happened on the interstate the other day. 55 MPH, mashed the gas to get around a truck, and it sent the car into limp mode, again. I would assume that its would only throw codes if the CEL came on, correct? Every time this has happened, no warning lights.

Does the car do anything weird like stuttering? I've had some ignition coils fail before and the malfunction and CEL would happen when I stomped on the gas.

It does nothing. Just a loss of power to the point of roughly 50%. If I turn it off for about 30 seconds, its good to go again.

I think some codes do actually, if the manufacturer thinks they're "minor". Only one way to find out if your car has any.

If you mash on the throttle without being in gear does it stutter or anything?

Had not tried but your comment sparked interest. I went out this morning and did it while car was in Park. It sent it into limp mode. Going to go over to my buddy's house today to get scanned and see if there are any codes being thrown.

If you have a catalytic converter right off the manifold I would take that off and see if its clogged.. possibly a front o2 sensor as well.
