Built in child seat.
The W203 has a really cool option. It can have a child seat built into the back seat. The front part of the seat cushion pops up and back to meet the backrest and lets a child sit at window height.
Would like to know if anyone has seen that option and if they have the VIN for that car.
I would really like to work out the parts needed to make it happen since I plan to mod the rear seat some time in the future.
Thanks.

Do you want the RHS or LHS or both ? Usually it goes on the passenger side if there is only one.
PM me your VIN so I can see your interior code and trim options.

There are two different setups. Those cars with folding seats and conventional one piece back and seat. In both cases the seat section has to be replaced. Therefore it is much cheaper if you already have a folding seat option in your car.
The optioned seat bench comes as one part number with variations for fabric or leather. So it's pretty much a straight swap.
Cheapest would be fabric material inside a car with folding seats.

Let's face it ... you would be lucky to get more than 2-3 years use out of any child support. But even so its probably still worth it.
The integrated rear child seat is also companion to the front seat transponder model (part of the airbag disabling setup) and the rear seat conventional type for use with with anchor straps on the hat shelf.
Each mod serves a purpose and it really depends on the needs of the parent.

I was considering the fact that I did not have folding rear seats so it would be much more work and cost for my car. for those that do have a folding rear seat, it would be eaiser to retrofit but I must warn, the cost is pretty high still. Consider the fact that a leather bottom cover of a C class car drivers seat is more than 350 dollars! I am sure the rear seat cover prices are pretty heavy too and also consider the additional brackets, screws, etc.. needed for it. I think most people would just consider adding a baby seat from the local store. Also, the seats that Steve has, "I believe" are the ISOFIX seats that mount on to the LATCH anchors on the rear seat. Also, i think these seats have the airbag sensor in them so if they are mounted in the front passanger seat, the airbag turns off automatically and the light comes on the dash.

you may want to consider a original mercedes benz baby seat from the dealer or steve. Also, I checked EPC again for the baby seats. If you want a right side baby seat added, you still have to replace the whole bottom half of the right side of the rear seat. The baby seat is NOT the whole right side of the seat. It's just the inner square cushion of the right side and not the outer cushion. Look at the pictures carefully and you will see what I mean.

The MB seat is expensive. I ended up going with a Britax seat from Babies R Us and it works great. Goes with the charcoal interior and will go from infant to up to 80lbs.

Ordering system clearly shows the bottom seat with integrated child seat as one part number. As you correctly stated there is no need to change the backrest. The bottom plate and cushions are no problem.

Im going to make a correction.
Mod parts list
------------
- Metal base
- Child seat module
- Main cushion not part of child seat
- cover to suit car
I may have overstated the simplicity but it still seems quite possible to adapt a car. The split seat owners have the upper hand in cost of the cover, as it is smaller.

It turns out the seat bench is only one part number. It comes in various cloth and leather finishes and costs less for split seat owners than it does for normal seat.
There is no multitude of parts.
