Replacing amber stock signal bulbs

Hey group,

Just joined today, and I was hoping you guys could help me out with this. I am looking to get some replacement bulbs for my front and rear signals. I want to get rid of the stock amber bulbs, and get some of those chrome bulbs that light up amber.

I have been hearing good things from people about Silver Xtreme bulbs at www.visionbulbs.com

Just wondering if anyone had a pic or anything they could share? I really want to get these bulbs, so I just thought it would be a bonus if anyone already had them installed.

Anyhow, thanks in advance!

Yeah, I heard about those bulbs having a blue/orange color to them. Don't really want that.

That's why I'm going to get these bulbs from www.visionbulbs.com

They appear completely chrome, but light up amber.

yes they do. thats what i have in the rear 05 talillights. i like the way they look. the front ones i have the blue/amber ones which blink amber, just because i like the look in the turn signal. i tried the silver vision up front and like the look of the other better.

thats basically what i have in my rear tails and i think they look really great. i bought the sliver vision bulbs, the euro verison since i have euro spec tail lamps and instead of shaving a nipple off the bulb base i bought the proper bulbs.

Not sure of what stores to buy it from.

AT least with this site, you just pick the bulbs (ie. front signal), specify your car and year, and they send you the right bulbs.

You can read about it on their site: www.visionbulbs.com

Silver Xtreme

Thanks again!

I actually saw another C-Class today and the guy had also bought the bulbs from www.visionbulbs.com

They looked great... The signal was really bright. I don't see much of a difference between that and the stocks bulbs.

They're great! Thanks!

i dunno...sometime I kinda like the amber hue, but I've been thinking about changing the front turn signal bulbs. Just that the price doesn't do much justification.

I don't know... Personally, for $25, it was a worthwhile upgrade. I've seen how these look, and I can't wait to get them, and install them on my ride.

You car looks amazing, I think it was look so much cleaner and fresh if you subbed out the amber for some silvers.

You can find some silver bulbs at Pep Boys, or most sport compact shops.

But you can save money by going here:

http://superlumination.com/1156_1157.htm

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and you will find colored bulbs along with Silver Vision type.

I've heard so many complaints about those bulbs burning out... I guess you get what you pay for.

My Silver Xtremes are arriving tomorrow!

Ok so now pics of how to replace the bulbs? Is it as easy as replacing front lights? (by the way, "u get what u pay for" doesn't always apply because I've had all my bulbs replaced in the front and I went with the cheapest bulbs I can get and it still works fine after a year or so).

I actually asked the people at www.visionbulbs.com about installation, and they gave me some info on installation.

Seems really simple... I should be able to do the rear bulbs blindfolded.

I'm expecting my bulbs tomorrow, I'm excited to install them!

thx I actually have the rear clear part smoked, so you can't see the amber bulbs, but on the front from some angle, you will see the amber reflection. I'll take the suggestion in mind. We'll see how it goes. I remember I told everyone I wasn't gonna drop the car either...hahaha look at me now.

I don't want to keep harping about the same thing, but some colored inexpensive bulbs in the past burned out quickly because the paint was put on too thick. This made the internal temperature of the bulb too high and caused premature burn out.

As for cheap, on my W210, about 2 years ago, I wanted the same results as everyone here wants. No "fried egg" look in you clear lenses. But, I also wanted a "yellow" blinker, not amber. Here is the cheap part...

2 - 1156 clear bulbs 99cents at the 99cent store
1 - can of Krylon silver glass paint (had from children's project)
1 - can of Duplicolor yellow anodized metal paint

First I fogged on the yellow paint to get the desired color. I hooked the bulb up to a power supply to turn it on. Then after the yellow dried, I fogged on the silver glass paint. The paint itself has translucent qualities, but you only need to apply enough to mask the yellow. I've seen other painted amber bulbs with little slits to allow the color to come through along with just painting half of the bulb so the amber color is not reflected off of light housing.

Anyways, I never took them out. They have been in there for over 2 years. Bulb brightness is still good along with the color. This is probably not for everyone, but you can make custom colored bulbs by changing the glass paint color.

Silver Xtreme

My Silver Xtreme came in the mail today, right on time!

I just finished the installation this morning, and they look awesome! The bulb doesn't even look painted. It almost looks like the natural glass color. It's completely silver, and when you signal, it's bright amber!

So glad I made this purchase!

Incase you guys following this thread have missed the link, it's www.visionbulbs.com

I'm going to meet up with some friends to show these off!

Have a great weekend guys!

Well, let me know if you end up getting those Silver Xtremes...

I'd like to see pics of your ride with them installed.

Let me know what you guys think.
