amp speakers

any advice for a amp and speaker upgrade on a stock head unit with cd changer, I was going to install the amp over the passenger side rear wheel, I think there is room after removing grey foam inside compartment, I was going to put diamond speakers in the doors.

i have heard some very good stuff about diamond speakers, i have not heard them my self. i personally had Eton 6", 4", tweeter in my truck, with 3 JL audio 8w6 woofers running 1ohm mono off of a high current US Amp, and a standard US Amp pushing the mids and highs. it was a smooth sound. there were definitely louder systems out there, but mine was very pleasing to me.

I have not seen any post about upgrading just speakers and a amp on factory stereo on a C-230, I have seen many upgades of entire system.

Sdcaclint,
I would leave the stock front 6.5" in place as the door is designed as a proper cabinet for that driver and it doesn't sound that bad. The Etons are excelent drivers but are very box sensitive if used below 200hz. You might want to use them as you mids in back if you build a box for them and your sub. That would really sound great! You might want to try some scan-speak tweeters too. IMHO they are much smoother than the Eton tweeters and take more abuse. I'd love to see your system when it is done.

i wish i could show it to you, but it is now in a box in my garage. the system was built by a small custom shop near my house for a customer (my best friend at the time) i was working there part time, and a couple years later i bought the truck from my friend. i kept the truck a couple of years, and sold it last week. i have all the components now. i was forced to leave the door panels, because i didn't want to spend the money to replace them, and i didn't have any personal use for them anymore. i gave the new owner the factory system, and he was satisified. so i am not sure what to do with the rest of the components. my g/f was thinking of having them installed in her suburban, but i am holding off until i hear the system in the coupe. i doubt that i will put any of it in the mb except for maybe the subs, and amp. i only have one reservation about using the amp. i will only have the deck to control bass volume. my amp is an older model, and the newer ones have the ability to have a remote volume control. it isn't possible to retrofit my amp with this. it is a fantasic amp, and i wouldn't want to buy another high current amp to replace it. so i will just wait and see

I am installing MB Quart 6.5" component speakers in the front coupled with a Rockford Fosgate amp. However, because of the fiberoptic cable the installer has to re-wire the headunit from the dash to the doors. If anyone else has attempted this. please let me know and whether it sound substantially better than the standard sound system. Thanks.

audio upgrade on C-230

I had the standard Blaupunct speakers and head unit. I replaced the front speakers with MB Quart components (DSD 216) and a rockford fosgate amp. The sysem sounds phenomenal. The sound stage alone is worth the price of admission. The sound comes from in front of you and voices and instruments are where they should be. I'd advise anyone thinking of buying a C-230 couple to get the base unit the upgrade with aftermarket equipment. However, my installer said the standard head unit and the optional Alpine cd changer were very good products.
