1 Week Old and the Xenon Ignitor Broke

If anyone saw one of my previous threads... I brought the car in today... now 10 days old... and I was told that the Xenon bulb was fine but that the ignitor is what had died. They ordered the part so I had to leave the car overnight. I hope this isn't something that will keep happening. Has anyone else seen or heard of this problem?
Thanks

Hockey, relax!!! I think you are causing yourself unecessary stress for no reason. If you do a search for the word 'lemon' you will come across some posts about real lemon cars that would fall under the lemon law...that's when you should worry!! I've had the pano roof mechanism replaced and the radiator replaced and have had no problems ever since. I cannot recall anyone having a problem with the bixenon ignitor but that doesn't mean you have a recurring problem on your hands...worry about it if you have it fixed 3 or 4 times.

Exactly. You have a warranty for a reason. Things will break, you can't help that - just had bad luck off the bat, it doesn't mean anything. Now go out there and do donuts with your Buick loaner!

i am not stressed about it at all actually.... i just like posting and reading responses... if you want me to stop i will... it just helps the workday go by faster. at least breaks up my day of programming (i am a software manager).

everything is going to be alright. warranty's are there for a reason. no matter what kind of car you buy, something might break. no matter how reliable people say other cars are, there is always someone out there who gets one that may have a defective part. its just a xenon ignitor. obviously a rare occurance because all the other input you received from those who have BIX, including myself, with no problems at all.

well.... i guess my point was to let anyone who cared know what the issue ended up being... i didn't realize that there were folks who read and commented on things they didn't care about in the first place....

yeah, at MB of Naples, the first thing you see is the receptionist at the desk when you walk and. and it sure is a pretty good lookin woman. guess it gets all the old men happy and eager to spend $80,000 on their S-class. i don't mind though :p

Start sniffing around for a girlfriend, if you know what I mean. If you think your car is driving you crazy, wait till you get a sniff.

No dude, post away. Some of us responded because you appeared to be overreacting about it when you shouldn't be, not because we wanted you to stop. Ignore the thread ***** ...just becasue they've been around alot longer or have heaps of posts doesn't mean *****...right lads?!

Yeah I had my steering wheel buttons crack on the first day I had the car. Funny the buttons apparantly are part of the airbag assembly because that is what they replaced to fix it. I have never had a Bi-Xenon problem so once it is fixed I would not worry about it happening again. **** happens and they fix it that is what the warranty is for. And ignore the other asshats and post away just to **** them off.....

yeah HockeyPhreke, its that you acted like it was a huge deal. use the warranty thats what it there for. i had my car for 4 days and i went to put it in reverse the entire shift knob came off, including the boot. i took it in for service, they fixed it and i havent had a problem since.

i don't think MB even makes the xenon lights themselves so you can't really blame the defect on them. It would be like saying MB cars are bad because one of the michelin tires got a flat or because the harman Kardon stereo is malfunctioning.

i picked it up just now... boy did i miss it... i love the way the supercharger feels when pulling onto the highway... so smooth. my first experience with the service at MB started off bad, but they came through... i pointed out to them this kind of oliy residue on the radio lens, and they tried to clean it but couldn't. so they said they would have to order a whole new radio unit and i would have to come back in... when i went to pick up the car... after a phone call that is was ready... they had it back in the bay and were swapping out a radio unit from another car because they didn't want me to have to come back in... i waited 30 minutes and all was well...

one thing... of course i checked the lights before i pulled away... and one of the lights was blueish and one was yellowish... i brought the guy over and showed him and he went and asked a tech... came back and said that since they replaced the bulb first to see if that was the problem... its a new bulb and takes a little time to break in and the 2 lights to even out in color... has anyone heard of this.

not sure about the bulb breaking in but mine are always a bit more bluish when i first turn them on, then they settle down with more of a yellowish hue.

come to think of it, my driver side unit was totally replaced about 2 months ago after an accident and the first couple days the color didnt seem to even. i took the car in because the auto leveling on the driver side lense wasnt working properly and it had to be calibrated. they are both fine now.
