Question Wheels - 18s Vs. 19s on my C230 Sedan

I paid a visit to TWS today and talked to Sanders. Nice guy and knows his stuff. I am now debating going with 18s or 19s. He said if I do 19s I should drop my car and may be go with H&R springs. I dont really want to drop the car. Is anyone using 19s with stock springs? Will it look weird?

I am looking to do either Brabus Monoblock VI multi piece Replicas or AMG SL Style IV multipiece. What do guys think?

Should I do 18s or 19s? Will 18s make a difference. I already have the nice 17s that came with the car. I will be selling those.

18 for practicality reason. YES YOU HAVE TO LOWER! Your going to look like an SUV if you don't.

I have the 19's...they look reallly sweet but u have to definately lower it...it looks really weird. If you get 18's it will have a very noticable gap also. I would go with 19's because if you buy 18's and roll up to someone with 19's u might regret it and wish u got 19's. 19's aren't big at all....its the same size as the 18's in terms of radius of the wheel. With 19's you just get a thinner side wall. Lower profile... But on the down side of 19's, cabin noise goes up a bit, and i have gone thru 2 rims dude to highway pot holes. It could be expensive......good luck..

i wish

I wish I got the 18's instead.. I have 19's, the ride is rougher, there is wheel shake that is harder to get out and there is that little thing about unspun wheel mass.....(a little less power)

Yes they look good, yes I did lower my car. Well the wheels raised it back up a little too.. Now I need front and rear air dams to make it asthetically lower. .. damn...

Does anyone wana trade???????

I have the 18, but lately I've been thinking about swapping it for the 19 same style. i'm still deciding because the tires for 19 would cost so much more. Probably will just stay w/ these 18s for a while because I do like the ability to drive fast on these and not worry about pot holes at much. The 19s doesn't improve the handling a lot over the 18s as well especially when they are heavier.

if you have the 04.5-05 ride height I don't think you'll have to lower it if you go 18 or 19. the 04.5-05 height is only marginally higher of what you see in my sig pic.

btw, I dunno how much will 18 affect your sport package ride comfort. From riding in a friend's 04.5 c230k sedan, it is really comfortable on those 17s compare to my car.

if you have the 04 w/ those 7 spoke evo wheels, then you definitely gotta lower the thing if you go 19s. I've seen one w/ 19s on the road and it was funky

well, check here. The 2004 ride height (your car) sits a little higher than the C32 AMG's stock height ( http://www.mbklasse.com/forums/showt...&threadid=5585 )

You can see the picture on there before I lowered the car. Just picture it's your car only a little lower.

Whether you go 18s or 19s, you should lower the car. You'll have better handling and if you don't want to spend a lot of money on tires get 18s. I have 19s with low profile tires. I was running H&R sport springs but didn't lower the car enough for me so now I run coilovers. If you don't lower the car it will definitely look weird. If you're interested I'm selling a set of H&R sport springs. It will lower the front 1-1.25" and the rear .75".

If you're even considering getting 19's you should just get 18's and use the difference for lowering springs. 19's will look pretty stupid without lowering springs.

VKaushal, if your's are the new 5 spoke 17's on the C230 Sport Sedan I am interested in buying them.

I want to put a set of the 17's on my wife's wagon.

Thanks, Bill
