2004 C320 Sport - On/Off switch in storage cubby under Radio

I have this strange On/Off switch in the storage cubby under the radio. I checked the manual, but cannot find any info, wondering if it is an aftermarket add on?

When the switch is in the Off "zero" position, the clarity/radio reception improves tremendously.

Any idea what this switch could be for?

Thanks in advance.

I have not seen that before, in either of the 2 Cs I have had or in comments or photos here. To see it looks aftermarket. I'm guessing you have not searched for or traced any wires to / from the switch or area, probably a ***** to get close to without removing the "bin", which looks easy, again, guessing. My question would be what's the wire that's coiled up next to it, that may give clue...

Thanks.

The wire next to it is an AUX cable, iPod hook up.

No, I have not searched for, or traced any wires.

IMO, the coiled wire and button are NOT Mercedes accessories, but aftermarket. As I recall, most aftermarket Aux cable adaptors are run into the glove box, so this configuration is different. I've never seen this wiring configuration on any W203.

Perhaps the button controls the availability of the Aux cable (to disable when not in use). You can try hooking up an iphone, and cycle the button to see if they are related. On the remote chance you might know the previoius owner, that would be the place to ask.

Beyond that, I have no idea what the on/off button is for. Definitely, it is not OEM MB. Sorry.

Thank you very much, I shall investigate accordingly.

Prior to posting, I did check with the previous owner, who had no valuable input, as he never used it. Must have been installed prior to him acquiring the car.

Thanks anyways, it was worth a shot.
