Steering angle sensor unwound

Today I was replacing the turn signal stalk. On the attempt, the steering angle sensor (or clock spring) popped off and the ribbon inside has become unravel. Am I screwed? New part or is there a way to redo it?

not a merc
Just wind it back no big deal. But it seems you don't know how to do the job if you having the spiral come apart in the first place

Can you post a photo? I'm confused as to how you managed to unravel the ribbon cable. The entire thing comes off in 1 piece.

Take a look at this thread if that helps.

Its all back together and working fine. I should have snapped a pic. I was under the impression that is was all one piece as well, but it separated. Go figure
