Well my guess is that most people on the forum, when they say the got x under invoice or x over invoice, they are talking about the *published invoice prices* you see on kbb.com, edmunds.com, or carpoint.com, which do not include holdbacks. Don't confuse yourself by making up a different "invoice" terminology that other people are not using.
As for special ordering, of course you want the options that you want, but you might want to consider haggling with the dealer on a car he has on the lot that has the options you want, plus some that you don't. Basically tell him you don't want or need those extra options, and he may discount those options. That way, you might pay a bit more than you were originally thinking, but then you get some bonus options cheaper than you normally would, and you don't have wait months for your car. Just a thought.

And I suppose it's not a good idea to mention holdbacks and other non-public incentives. Dealers were probably pissed enough when people started walking in with CarPoint printouts a few years ago. If you start sniffing at their holdback, they'll probably get real peeved.
