yet still negotiated with me, lol. I went in with my carsdirect price, and said do me better and they did, slightly...but they did. I was happy, I could have probably gotten better had I driven 2 hours to Atlanta where they are a few more dealers than the 1 dealer here locally....but it wasn't worth all that for ~500 bucks and the hassle. Only thing that sucks is the lovemercedstour doesn't swing through Atlanta until labor day weekend...and couldn't wait that long for a car. I'll still be going, and getting a cspot hopefully what its worth.

Glad that HBL could match the price that Euro gave me and that I could be of help. Good luck with their service department though...thats a whole 'nother story, although they are changing.

Either go to a LoveMercedes Tour, its at FedEx Stadium in mid-September or check Ebay for people selling them. Ill have one from the LoveMercedes Tour in mid-September that you can get.
Good Luck
you CANNOT transfer the "LoveMyMercedes Tour" (LMT) coupons to other people besides family (last name).
These are NOT C-SPOT coupons. These actually have a control number that is entered into an MBUSA database. When you use the LMT coupon, and your number on the coupon does not match the name you provided when you got it, then the coupon is NOT valid.
C-SPOT coupons were only given out at the C-Spot Tour earlier in the year. Most of them will expire Sept 9-12th. These were transferable, and that's why they sold on eBay.
The LMT Coupon is NOT transferable, and if you buy one from eBay, you just got scammed !!! The LMT Coupon expires 31 December, and it's good on more than just C-Class MBs.
A few people said that they paid under invoice. My understanding is that the invoice price is what the dealer pays MB for the car and unless there are manufacturer-to-dealer incentives, the dealer doesn't make any money (or loses money) on such a transaction. How's that possible?
Also, if I were to special-order a car, what are my chances of getting a price under invoice?
And to BTW, the carsdirect.com price is higher than the invoice price.

Ever since any idiot with a web browser could start looking up invoice pricing, dealers have had to come up with new tricks to conceal the true cost of the car and get people to pay more money.
Other guys like Anaheim_Drew will probably know more about this than me, but one thing they do is called hold-backs. Which means MB sells the car to the dealer at 3% more than it really costs. When the dealer sells the car to you, he gets back the 3% he overpaid to MB. This way, both MB and the dealer can claim an "invoice" price higher than the true cost of the car. So even if you pay invoice, the dealer is still making 3% profit. So when people pay less than invoice, they are just cutting into that 3% hold-back profit that the dealer has in reserve, that most people don't know about. They're not actually losing money.
I'm sure there are other types of things going on between MB and the dealer that make the margin larger than 3%.
You need to keep in mind though, that just because you know what the dealer's true cost of a car is, doesn't mean you can get near that price. A lot of it is going to depend on where you live, and how much competition there is between dealers, and how savvy other buyers are.
If you want to pay under invoice, but the dealer knows you there's no other dealer you can go to in the area, he won't give it to you because he knows you have no choice. That's why SoCal buyers have it so good. There's dozens of dealerships in that area all competing with each other so their prices are lower.
Or if the dealer knows some other clueless buyer will come in an hour later and buy the same car you're looking at for sticker price, the dealer will just hang out and wait for mr. clueless to come in.

I'm set on special-ordering the car. Since I'll be driving it for at least 4-5 years, I want it to be exactly as I want it. I don't want to have to worry about retrofitting COMANDs and HIDs at some point in the future.
The reason why I brought up carsdirect.com is that an earlier post mentioned that they got a good deal by mentioning it.
Thanks for the responses!

Well my guess is that most people on the forum, when they say the got x under invoice or x over invoice, they are talking about the *published invoice prices* you see on kbb.com, edmunds.com, or carpoint.com, which do not include holdbacks. Don't confuse yourself by making up a different "invoice" terminology that other people are not using.
As for special ordering, of course you want the options that you want, but you might want to consider haggling with the dealer on a car he has on the lot that has the options you want, plus some that you don't. Basically tell him you don't want or need those extra options, and he may discount those options. That way, you might pay a bit more than you were originally thinking, but then you get some bonus options cheaper than you normally would, and you don't have wait months for your car. Just a thought.

As for the 4% discount on a special order. $1400 off of a $35000 msrp is $33600... Who pays msrp?
