Lightbulb Possible C230 buyer here... what do ya'll think?

I have been in the market for a 25k - 30k car for about 9 months now.. I am procrastinating something fierce... anyway, I was looking at 01-03 bmw 325ci, i - 330ci, I, and then a Lexus is 300 new (can get for deal invoice 26,900 or less depending), and then I thought I would head over to my local MB dealer... well I roll in to find a c230 Kompressor Sedan, 04, black, 900 miles on it for 27,700... drove it and liked it very much, its a gorgeous car, the 6 speed throws are so short, and the ride is pretty good...

My question is, do you think this is a decent price, they have ONE at this price... the dealer stated it isn’t really negotiable, do you think I should try fussing the price anyway? how is reliability, I know it isn’t a Lexus as far as reliability goes... but what’s the general consensus...? I saw a few of you picked up 04 and 05s and looked at the pics and some review and it seems mixed... anything I should look for, ask, talk about? I am going to have a look and take a few pics now, and weigh some options. How about financing? does mb offer ok rates? 4.9? or more like 6?

any advice is appreciated... be honest

Thanks,
-m

That's a great price, does it include tax/license? I paid $25,330 for new 2004.5, metallic paint, sunroof, 5-spd, what you described should be about $600 cheaper, brand new of course. I used a C-Spot coupon to get that price and now you can use the Love Tour coupon. Last time I checked you can get 3.9% financing through Capital One's website, but to use these coupons you have to finance through MB. You can use a Capital One approval to negotiate your MB rate down.

Cool

price doesnt include tax/license...

whats the coupon you are talking about? i am thinking that the car having 900 miles on it negates the 6000 price difference that you talked about. i was considering going financing with another outfit, but wouldnt be able to do that until monday ANYWAY. and this is the only one...

i was also thinking, maybe go in and be READY TO DRIVE IT OFF THE LOT, if they will take, say, 28k OTD!! with everything...

what do ya thinK?

(i am in manhattan beach, Laguna is nice BTW )

The coupons get you $1,500 off any new MB (Love Tour) or any new C-Class (C-Spot). C-Spot is done and over with, Love Tour is still going on, I think it's in LA today and tomorrow, I went last week. My guess is that with this coupon, you can get the re-refreshed 2005 for that price. If not, check back with me, I'll hook you up with a salesmonkey that can. The 2005 has some advantages over the 2004.5, redeisgned dash, AMG C32 bumper covers, redesigned console and best of all, it's brand new, not with 900 miles and you can pick the color as there are tons of them to choose from.

28K out the door is an OK deal, I paid $27K out the door for mine with coupon. Have fun on the Love Tour, it's great. The SLK350 is one of the best handling cars I've driven.

I had 4 different people that made offers, one even wrote a check, but nada, zilch, zero. They go home, think about it and I never hear back. Usually I see a car I like enough to make an offer, I buy it.

IMO.........I would raise the price some, write a dynamic sales ad that gets someone interested. When they come to see it, you know that you are going to drop the added amount, plus come down to what you have to have for the car. Everyone wants a deal........ Those who leave rarely come back. Use the point that you have to sell it cause of the new car.... Work the situation.. 4 people came to see it means interest in it.......... IMO

Thumbs up coupons

After reading your posts, I signed up for the tour in Atlanta. I had forgotten about this program. I was in the middle of negotiating a deal on a C230K '05 today so the timing couldn't be better. Here in Florida, the dealer is willing to knock off $1200 or so from MSRP but that is about it. I am not sure if I'm going to take the deal or wait a while (there were pretty good factory to dealer incentives last fall and winter). The coupon would make a difference. I assume you get it at the tour? Can you get one any other way?
Thanks

Buell you must of gotten some East German ex-weightlifter female olympian doing your back ? Hope you recover soon !
