AC turns on but won't turn off.

AC turns on but won't turn off.
Hey, I'm new to this, please bear with me🙈. I have an 03 C180 Kompressor Classic with the 6 speed manual transmission with 248k km on the clock and my AC does it's own thing...
it works a little too well if that makes sense. I try to use it as little as possible because once it's on, I can't turn it off, no matter what I do with the climate controls, only thing that gets the AC to turn off is to turn the car off and start it again.
is this problem unique to me?😂 it's not s problem, I'm just trying to figure out what may be the cause of this bizarre behavior...😂

I have the same problem, it started about a year or two ago. What works for me is to turn it on again on the lowest setting, then turn it off again immediately. That usually does the trick!
