only one more dumb question.... the wattage of these Silver Stars is the same as what normally comes in that slot with the Bi-X right ?

yes they are the same. i couldnt get a pic with the blinker on at full brightness. its hard to take a picture with the hazards on trying to get it just right. i took the pics over and over.

Those look nice ! I haven't been able to get them locally so I'm going to try the silver paint thing. What do you have for the side markers and the day lights ? The factory ones don't go with the brightness of the Bi-Xenons so I want to change them.
Do you know where they have these wedges that are really white ?

I'm going to try painting the signal lights w/ silver paint this afternoon since those are only to cover the yellow when they are off, but the wedges don't go with the bi-xenons when they are one so those I need.
Let me see what happens with the silver paint because if I don't like how they come out , I'll ask you to get me those also locally and ship them all together, if you'll be so kind.

yes i can get the sylvania silver star's from my local pep boys. i cant get the philips silver vision locally. the silver stars are in the front of my car, they have the blueish hue to them. the silver vision are all silver. the silver vision will not fit in the BIX housings. because the philips are single filament. i initially bought 2 pair of silver vision and tried to put them up front. but i got a bulb out message. so i gave one pair for my brother to put in his GTI. the BIX inidcators require dual filament. thats why i went with the silver star's up front. i didnt get the silver wedge 194 bulbs for my car, i used a set of hyper white ones that were sent with my silver vision, they were free.
so i can get the silver stars for you. just let me know.

Anyway, if you can get me the part number from your package, there's a Pep Boys here by my house. They just could find (or didn't know how to look) them here.
If they don't have them, I'll let you know. Then the other bulbs I guess I could order them directly from where you ordered them and not bother you with that.
Why didn't you use the siver stars in back, did the dual filament pose any problem or are they more expensive ?

no, i wanted the clean look that the silver vision give in the back. notice that there is no color in the taillights when the bulb is off. that is what the silver vision do, they sit there and look silver. the silver stars have a bluish color to them, but when they blink they are amber so they are legal. i thought the silver stars (blue look) looked really good in the crystal type lens in the BIX housing. the silver vision look good in the taillights because it is all silver. plus the silver stars i could have used, but it would have required me to get the 1156 size bulbs, which are single filament. but since i have euro tails i have the P21W bulbs back there, basically a 1156 but the nipples are different. if you have US spec tails, you will need to shave a nipple off in order for it to fit. but since i have euro tails the fit was perfect without modding the base of the bulb.
i will stop at pep boys on the way home and get the SKU info, part number etc for the bulbs and post the info for everyone.

My SilverStar purchase was on-line, at the linked web site. It is fast and free. They will sell the 2057 bulbs at that site.
Unfortunately, the rebate coupon is not still in effect.

my manual says to use the 2357 as well. but i couldnt find those bulbs. when comparing the two bulbs in a store a 2057 and 2357 they look identical. i dont know what the difference is. wattage was the same, dual filament, base size etc. so i bought them and they work fine. plus they blink they are not on constant so im not worried about overheating. i use my blinkers but they are blinkers, not markers or a constant lit bulb.
plus they've been in for 4-5 months and i have had no problems.

my DRL are off as mine has the selcection of manual or constant lighting as well. my side markers are euro impact strips, with my wedge bulbs wrapped in high temp tape for over a year with no issues. when i install PTS, and i have ahe strips off and bumper down, ill take pics of the wrapped bulbs.

I went to Pep Boys and found the following :
Sylvania Silver Star bulb (dual filament #2057 $30 for 2 )
Sylvania Silver Star bulb (single filament #1156 $30 for 2 )
Sylvania Silver Star bulb ( # 9006 $50 for 2 )
I also found from Sylvania the 9006CB - Cool Blue (not silver star) $30 for 2
Now if I could only get the white wedges W5W ...
Would anyone know the diference in these two 9006 bulbs ?

The Sylvania web site has all the requested information. The Cool Blue illuminate blue, not amber, like the SilverStar.

I need to know between the two 9006 only. I was told that the silverstar 9006 is white also but I didn't know how white. Remember the 9006 is for the fog lamps.
