Hey All

my 2005 c230 kompressor keys, seems to getting worst, more specifically the lock button, bought the car used awhile back. Has small cracks where they have been repeatedly push over and over. Lock / un lock..

I might stand there for 10 minutes to get the thing to lock...

what are my options and rough pricing? New key from dealership? Get some guy that knows how to reprogram it? Do they even have a battery? What’s goes on with them? How do I solve this cheaply?

if I lock the car manually from the inside before I get out, all doors lock besides the driver side. How do I get around this with out the key lock?

thanks again!

Unless replacing the battery fixes the problem, you may need to buy a new key at the dealership. The cost for a new key is (I hope you are sitting down) about $280. The challenge you face with the key is that Mercedes considers it a “theft sensitive” item and it needs to be synchronized with the car. If your key fails you will need to find a way to transport the car to the dealership for the process. That’s likely to be even more expensive than the outrageous cost of the key alone.
