I need to replace the steering pump on my 06 230 but I'm having an issue finding the right pump. Every where I look they say these two pumps will fit but in don't 100% believe because the reservoir fittings are slightly different. Anyone with experience with this?? I'd hate to put the wrong pump on and find out it leaks!
That's the thing because 54661601 is what I pulled out of the car.
ok well according to the info the 'fitting' is not compatable.. i guess you have a different pipe specific to that pump.. maybe it was replaced along with the pipes at some point?
can you confirm, do you have a 230 or 240 (your profile says 240)

Sorry for the late reply, been elbow deep under the hood last couple days. From what I can tell the only difference in the pumps is just the metal tip which I discovered is removable with a hammer and flat head screwdriver. The real factor to which pump to use is the reservoir. If the reservoir p/n ends with 09 83 then you use the pump without the metal tip. If the p/n ends with 23 83 then you use the pump with the metal tip.
