wavering idle/dead accelerator from air sensor?

I've had an occasional issue where I start the car, and have a surging idle, combined with a dead accelerator pedal. After a restart or two, the car would run fine. When this happened I got a check engine light with an accelerator pedal code. I ran the checks on the accelerator pedal, and it was fine.

My MBII was also getting an unknown code P201f-000. Most p201f codes have -b40 after, related to engine oil sensor. I found one search hit that had the p201f as the intake air sensor.

After a lot of searching, I came across a post on a forum (wish I'd saved it), where someone was chasing a similar problem. Multiple garage visits and a lot of money were spent before the intake air sensor was found to be the culprit. I took mine out, and it looked like someone beat it up (pic below; I hate to think where the missing pieces went). Replaced it, and code goes away. Just passing this on.

This sensor will never cause a dead throttle pedal

I think you're right. Replacing the sensor did clear the P201f error, but from what I could find, the problems of dead accelerator pedal and wavering idle seem to be either throttle body related, or related to the wiring harness.

If the fault is specific to the pedal. Then replace it.
I have replaced many pedals . You may need to look further with regards to the uneven idle
