oil change?

oil change?
When should i change the oil for the first time in my car? I've got about 1700 miles on it right now, and i dont know if im supposed to get it changed at Service A or if im supposed to go before it for the oil change?

I changed at 1k miles, but my 02 came with a blended oil from the factory. So I wanted to get full synthetic in the engine ASAP. I think I read that the new cars come with full synthetic from the factory, so your manual should tell you what intervals to change it. (Dealer recommends every 10k miles with scheduled service...but I still feel safer with 5k oil/filter changes).

<shrug> I change oil and filter every 5k miles...and I pay for every other oil change out of pocket. It's worth the $ for the peace of mind.

if you do, just make sure they're using synthetic MOBIL 1, and nothing else. Make sure they don't mess with the diagnostics or anything else under the hood. You don't want surprises when you do take it in to the dealer for Service A or B and find out that someone else messed with something that is now going to cost a pretty penny. Negligent work on your car by outsiders that causes damages, is not covered under Warranty. Beware !
