I would suggest G35x, but given your terrible experience with Infiniti it wouldn't do justice to steer u back into that route. Hence, my answer would be the c320 4 matic. as far as the X-type goes. They drive far better than they look and the recent interior has been improved on material and finish also.

I wonder what year is your CLK320. My sis has a 2000 and it's completly different than another friend's 2002 CLK320. The 2002 feels tighter through turns and a lot more quieter on the road.

I do remember reading about the pre 04's and there problems but the 04s and up have much improved and the 05's are going to be even better there will be a true sport (not just one with wheels) and there is going to be a vdp model. If you go test a new one im sure you would find a big. dif.
