Shifter stuck from D to N

Shifter stuck from D to N
Hi everyone,
Today I noticed a problem with my automatic transmission. While in traffic I shifted to N but in the screen it would still show D and when shifting back to D, there was some kind of kick. Also the shifter didnt go up to R or P. Turned the car off and then back on and in the screen where D is supposed to be was just a white square and no C or S in the box next to it. After a couple of turning off and on everything was ok.
Any ideas could help.

Lot of posts on that, and instructions on removing the center console to get to it.
I picked up one at the junkyard picknpull 1//2 price day for like 15 bucks.
You gotta be quick though to get them, and the connection are specific to the years.
