I have a 2001 C240 and the gas cap door has stopped locking-When I press the lock button on the remote I can hear a click but it doesn’t lock. I still have PTSD from when someone poured sugar in my Capri in 1978 while I was in class at college So I Want To Fix This ASAP! It’s not the rubber attachment because that fell off years ago. I’ve been told it’s probably a pin that’s not catching-But those are just words to me, I see a silver pin but have no idea what it should be catching-I Would APPRECIATE ANY HELP, Diagrams, Photos & Videos would be even more helpful. PLEASE RESPOND ASAP!! Thank You Very Much!!!

Get a locking gas cap. It's cheaper than fixing it.

You should see U- shaped plastic attachment fixed to the back of the gas fill area. A metal comes from the trunk
area through holes on either side of the U. Check if this happens by keeping the cover open and locking the car.
If ok, check the cover. It has a flap with a hole that goes between the U when closed. When you lock the car, the pin
goes through this hole to lock the cover. Check if the holes (all 3 of them) are properly aligned.

you may need to replace the motor that pushes the pin out.its an easy fix to repalce the entire motor/Pin
