Rare Option on 2005 C230k

I have optional equipment you can’t (don’t want to) get. My car was built just after summer shut down and the skilled German craftsman installed beautiful Obsidian black metallic door handles (all 4) on my dark solid black car. You can only really see the difference in bright sun but it’s just not right.

Any opinions on to what to do next?

I would go back to the dealer and have them changed.....Only because when your car ages it will be more noticable. Might start to look like something was repainted...

yea both my 040 coupe and sedan have mismatched handles. It was funny when we were picking up the sedan I said something like, so the sedans come with the wrong colored handles too, and I showed it to my salesman. He basically ignored me and didnt offer a solution

Ali is right. I have seen it on alot of black cars when I took a good look at the dealer. Not a big deal though imo.

I bought a '92 Suburban that came in two different blacks that year and the hood was painted the metallic black and the rest was regular black. Didn't even notice until the car was in an accident a year later and the body shop wanted to know if I wanted the fender to match the hood or the door, arghhh!

On black cars, all the door handles are Obsidian Black. Yeah, it irks me too . . . but honestly, I only notice it when I'm waxing the car and I'm staring at the door handles.

Official word from MBUSA is that this was a running change in 2003 due to customer complaints of scratches on the solid black door handles. The scratches, from rings and things, are much less noticeable on the metallic paint.

Case closed.

You don't have to believe everything dealer told you.

Yeah I found dealer's do not tell you the total truth. Research the car, and have the facts.

I have not seen a new mercedes around here without a sunroof. I will probably tomorrow since I typed that. LOL
