LA Bound...

Anyone in the LA area have recommendations on cool locations to live in near Santa Monica? A nice suburb where cars don't get broken into. =) Also looking for land, might build a home out there.

Heard Woodland Hills is nice???

Thanks!

Ok whats your budget man? Also whats you interpretation of 'nice suburb'? For example Woodland Hills is cool BUT next to not that 'nice' neihborhoods. By not 'that nice' I mean ok-not bad like gangs and stuff. If your budget is like 800-1.5million then I would go to Porter Ranch its close to everything but not near ANY bad neighborhoods. If budget is 400-700K then I would go to Valencia(near Magic Mountain) VERY nice neighborhoods and plenty of shopping plazas and malls and VERY good schools. I am moving there soon too

plus if you wanna live near the city or even in decent suburbs, you wont find much land available and if you do youll pay a very pretty penny for it.

Where will you be working? You should look for a place close to work because the rush hour traffic will kill you. Woodland Hills is far from Santa Monica btw. The 405fwy commute will kill you in the mornings and evenings. To go 10 miles it will take 1 hour at least. I hate the 405fwy and the 101fwy. But thats just me.

I'll be working very close to the CEC showroom. I want to be as close as possible to Santa Monica, but I want to have a little land, a backyard, etc...

What's the Zip to Valencia? is that nearby?
I definitely want to keep my commute down!!!! I know LA traffic

Valencia is even further than Woodland Hills. With no traffic at least 45 min. If you want land near Santa Monica, good luck. Its very pricey. I decent smaller house with a small back yard will run you $750,000.

A bucket on wheels
hey man congrats on moving down to my city of santa monica. Unfortunatly santa monica is extremely expensive as apartments are going for close to a mill and above the closer you get to the ocean and north of montana(santa monica's version of rode drive without the tourists) houses become insanely over priced. My suggestions would be the west LA area towards the westwide pavillion and rancho park (public golf course) its very close to CEC and beverly hills and santa monica with a pretty nice neighborhood but no matter how you go about it its gonna be very expensive unless you move down to the valley and put up with the heat and horrible traffic. good luck

Thanks, I'll look into that. I'm definitely not heading to the valley!

Found some land in BelAir, BevHills, wHollywood...
Might end up there. I'll check around the Pavillion and Rancho as well.

If you can afford land in BelAir of BevHills, then price is not an issue... WHollywood might not be your kind of area... Sure not mine... They have a big parade there called the Doo Daa.... Understand?

- definitely tooooo much Doo Daa in W.Hollywood.

- avoid the valley !! HOT !!

- BelAir is way nice, so is Brentwood, and Westwood ! Those were my hang-outs during my UCLA days ! You'll need to trade in the C320 for a CLK though to fit in. If price is not an issue, then go for it ! Flat out land... just be prepared to outbid some Arab sheik !!

I used to go to the Doo Daa clubs only because they played the best music in all L.A. while I was in college !!

yeah they do play the best music!

anyways, WHollywood is nice, and just because you live there doesn't mean you are going to march in the parade.

True
but WHollywood is a certain type of community with its own lifestyle. No to mention High crime, etc.... if that is not your lifestyle why would you move there?
