It all depends on your budget man. How much are you looking to spend?

how much you wanna spend and what type of surrounding you want. beach, valley, mountains, etc. you can spend alot of money no matter where you wanna live. gets cheaper the further east towards the desert you go.

you can spend over a million on a house in the valley, and still not have much land surrounding you. property is expensive here!

Land is the key. And lot sizes here are much smaller over all compared to other states..... Here in Ca. the new trend in building is the 2 story homes that are close to each other with lots under 5,000 sq feet and the house itself over 3000 sq feet.

its crazy how close the new houses are to each other. looks like you can reach out one window and touch your neighbors window.

In Hong Kong, you can reach over to your neighbor's apartment and borrow stuff :p

Welcome to LA! You said you're going to be working near CEC, so look around west LA, just west of Century City around Beverly Glen. Its real close, has plenty of apartments, condos and houses and is a nice little area. I bought my house is WHollywood a couple of years ago just two blocks above Santa Monica and SanVincente...the heart of the, uhm, nightlife...for the...alternative lifestyle type folks. I dont hate anyone, not even people from Anaheim, they can live how they want. LOL. Its a fun place to live - the city loves to party and it has the coolest damned Halloween festival anywhere. 300 thousand people on closed-down Santa Monica Blvd all in costumes - insane scene. I dont know what your budget is but right behind CEC is a little pocket called 'club view' - nice area, homes are around 1.5 - 2 mill or so. Around here, thats a bargain. Anyhow, good luck to you and dont take your car to MB of Beverly Hills for service - Simonson will take better care of you.

Thanks for the tip about the Dealer... Anyone know a certified MB tech in LA that does work on the side? That's how I get all my work done here in DC. I save mad $$ too. Definitely not dropping a Mil on a home... Thanks for all the advice. Hopefully I can get situated by mid next month.
