i just bought mines for $78 from the dealer so it looks like it is average price when ordering from a local dealership, the install took me literally 10 minutes with a flat head screw driver. 2005 c230 compressor btw.. goog luck...

Talking Thanks....

Took me ten min. Thanks a ton for this..... Saved me 300.00 as the dealership told me all there was for this was the ipod blue tooth kit for 340. I pulled this up on my phone and he looked up the part number and they had it in stock. Thanks again......

C230K
For what it's worth...I have a 2004 C230K bought in the USA. I checked to see if my car could accept the AUX mod, but according to the dealer it is not available for my car based on its VIN. I did remove the interior trim pieces to verify. The only white connector I saw was already connected to something; there was no open receptacle.

Just trina save ya some time, but it is really so easy to remove the trim that if you want to check for yourself, go ahead. It'll take about 5 minutes to get the pieces off.

Can anyone confirm what the blue connector is for? I'm digging around looking for a connector and the only one available is the black one with the one blue wire going into it. I don't have the disc changer in the glove box but when I hold down CDC on the stereo it does tell me AUX input active. Would it say that regardless of being prewired or not?

I did have an aftermarket stereo put in when I got the car in 2006 but it's been removed so I'm not sure if they moved it around but the only connecters in the entire passenger side are the ones in the picture. It can't be that deep into the car can it?

By the way my car is an 2007 C230, not sure if that matters.

thats not it for the aux. it should be in there. did you remove the kickpanel and the door sill? mine was hidden under all the wires when I had it. some of the headunits wont say aux ready if you hold down the cdc meaning its not wired for the aux.

I did but couldn't find it in the kick panel and verified with the side glove box panel that nothing was in there. Is the connector closer to the A or B pillar? I'm going to start working back and seeing if the stereo shop didn't put it back in the right spot to make room or something.

Check out my instructions on how to install the wire if you can't find the white harness, it's pretty easy and will only cost you a few bucks:

2007 C280 4Matic
Just bought a 2007 C280 4Matic and absolutely love it. When I spoke with the dealer, he said it was not pre-wired. I ran the VIN, and it was listed as unknown. I called Mercedes and was told that it was pre-wired. When I hold in the CDC button, I get the AUX input active message. So I pulled the door sill up and removed the kick panel, and was not able to locate a free white molex plug. The one white plug I did find had something already plugged into it. The car has a 6 disc changer in the glove box, could that be it, or is the car not pre-wired?

Thanks for any help. This thread has been great.

Another no-harness installation...

Hi,
Another late-comer to this thread...
Many many thanks to the earlier members for uncovering this remarkable capability and explaining everything so well.
Was actually in the process of a 2-din DVD receiver for my other car (Caddy SRX), and after a casual visit here I realized I could add aux easily to my C230! A couple of hours later... sweet music through aux...all done! Have added a photo...
Access to the white aux connector was relatively easy and straight-forward. The sole plate under the door is easy to pull off (pull straight up).
Then the kick plate (aka Pillar A?) is removed after popping off a small oval cap with a screw-driver (use flash-light for small slot) and taking off a screw (torx T25).
Did not bother with buying a harness ...The white connector had a healthy length of lead and I cut it off with about 2" still attached to the connector in case I need to reconnect (highly unlikely).
Made up my own aux cable from a mini-jack to twin RCA cable, with good quality extension wire. Tested to make ensure the quality of my made-up cable (see photo) and connected directly to the yellow, brown and black wires. Note: the direct connection noticably increased loudness compared to my earlier tests (with aligator clip connections).
Reassembled, fed the cable under the trim to the center console, and viola! ...all set.
Will get a bluetooth device for wireless... (any recommendations?)

Good job! I'm also planning to soon do something about this issue in my '05 C230 but I think I will get the Ipod integration kit and then turn it into a bluetooth solution as I would like to retain all Ipod functionality while not having to "hardwire" to the car. Either way I'm probably going to fina a way to use the device on the link below. It is recommended by Crutchfield to use in our cars... Hope this helps!

The iPod kit sends the analog audio signal to the headunit on the AUX IN terminals. You will during the installation of the iPod kit remove the pins from the headunit mating connector and replace them with the pins on the iPod 'Y' cable that comes in the kit. The white connector in the door sill is now disconnected. The iPod seizes control of the input terminals of the headunit via the CANbus connection. The Bluetooth dongle will not work hand-in-hand with the iPod kit.

You're absolutely right! After I wrote that here I kept doing my research and realized that something like what I included on the link would not work with the integration kit because of the command signals that need to travel to and from the Ipod. Anyways, I guess what I will attempt will be to get a BT adapter for the ipod cable from the integration kit and try to bluetooth to both the phone part of the system and the music. My 2012 Land Rover LR4 has the ability to pair to one phone for phone functions and another or the same for music source... I guess this is what I'm trying to achieve. I'm aware that in '05 or even '07 this was not was mercedes was thinking but at the same time I keep wondering why they bothered to make the forward-thinking move to MOST technology if they didn't bother to come out with udpated components/software/firmware to keep up with the changes as the technology would allow them to? I guess maybe not enough demand? Or maybe we just don't know about it because no one has tried to find out.

My brother has an '07 ML350 which came with the iPod integration kit installed and he has bluetooth built into his car from the factory...not a puck like ours need but even then he still can't use the iPhone as an audio source through his bluetooth connection to the car... he still has to plug in. Also, he cannot control Pandora or anything like that if he does plug in... Either way it is a head scratcher...

Just got done doing a 2005 C230. Used MB cable 210 440 50 05 like mentioned by others. We added a Parrot MKi9200 to it and used the low level outputs from the 9200 into the MB Aux plug. Now customer has bluetooth phone kit, streaming Bluetooth audio, direct iPod 30 pin connection, USB, SD Card, and 1/8" AUX input through the Parrot MKi9200. As others have posted, you do not NEED the MB plug and with the 9200 low level outputs being bare wires, it is just as easy to attach them directly to the wires in the kick panel. However, I also had to use a RCA level noise filter (PAC SNI1) to eliminate some noise.

Thanks to MBWORLD for the info. It made the job simple.

2006 CLK350
I have an 06 CLK350 with the COMMAND radio. It has the factory iPod kit installed, but I don't like that it only plays songs from the music library and you can't do things like stream from Pandora, plus I have the iPhone 5 now and even the 30pin to lightning port adapter does not make the phone work with the iPod kit.

I purchased the correct AUX kit mentioned in the post, I found the white connector in the kick plate on the passenger side door and plugged in the new cable, however when I switch to the AUX on the radio unit I can not hear any audio from the iPhone. Is this because the iPod Kit that is already installed is overriding the new AUX cable? Does anyone know if I have to remove the iPod kit's connection from the back of the radio? is there another wiring harness that needs to be plugged in the back of the radio that leads to where I connected the new AUX cable?

Also I just ordered this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Stereo-3-5MM-AUX-input-To-iPod-iPhone-Dock-Connector-Female-Cable-Adapter-Black-/281079042144?_trksid=p2054897.l4275Do you think that it will accomplish the same thing as installing the AUX port, since I already have the iPod kit to work with?

Thank you in advance to anyone who could help me out with some information on this.

2006 CLK350
I have an update.
The Stereo 3 5mm Aux Input to iPod iPhone Dock Connector Female Cable Adapter Black that I got on eBay for 8 bucks, worked! It allows me to use my iPhone 5 with the existing iPod kit that was installed in my 2006 CLK350. I now just hook right into the headphone jack and I can play anything from my iPhone, just like as if it were plugged into any standard 5mm AUX Jack.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but has anyone had issues with the volume using this aux install? With the iPhone on full volume I still have to turn the radio volume up significantly to get a decent volume out of the speakers.

I have tried to access the secret/hidden/engineering menu on the Audio 20 (hangup/#/1) but it does not access the menu. I am considering buying an inline amplifier but am sure that will distort the signal quality.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks in advance for any help or ideas

Cheers

Re-bumping this thread (sorry!)

I am hoping to pick up a 2003 CLK500 (non navi) this week.

From what I understand, the units without comand also do not have the AUX input in the glovebox. Also from what I gather, it appears I am also unable to just locate the aux cable in the right door sill (correct me if I am wrong!)

I now have no idea how I can get access to my iPod other than one of those ancient FM transmitters which I really do not want. I am hoping anyone can please offer some assistance!

The only success story I saw was the one where you pull out the head unit and solder some wires in, which would be impossible for me to do

If anyone has any other options, please let me know as I would really love to have an aux input or any kind of iPod integration kit.

Thanks!

I think there is an intermediate option of buying the cable/plug to connect into the floor sill and then place the socket in your glovebox.

It's a faulty simple job and shouldn't require any soldering. Where are you located?

I thought I read somewhere here there was no plug or cable for the 2003 model year even though I have the Bose audio.

If anyone can confirm it's just a simple plug from Benz it would be a huge relief

You mean you have a cassette player? There was no option for AUX input with those, to the best of my knowledge.

For soldering the AUX wires directly to the circuit board inside the headunit you can probably go to an electrical engineering college nearby and ask someone to spend 2 minutes soldering it for you
