W203 c200 kompressor turbo question
I have my car up for sale, I’ve not had any issues with the car as it drives perfect have never noticed any funny noises from the engine, I had someone come and view it yesterday and they got me to start it up so they could hear they engine, they pointed out a whining noise and said that the turbo was gone, I did hear the noise but the noise went away after a few minutes of cold start up.
I just went out this morning to check it again and I put a timer on it, the whining went away after 2 mins of a cold start up, I turned the car off and restarted it straight away and the whining was there again but disappeared again after 2 minutes, it was like the noise just cut off rather than faded away.
Is this normal or do you think the turbo needs replacing?
The car has full power and very responsive.
I also should mention that I don’t really drive the car much but I do start it up from time to time and drive locally.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Can you post a recording of the whine?
If the sound disappears as the engine warms up a bit, it might be simply part of the warming up procedure. For example, for the M271 there's also that ticking noise by the supercharger (some purge valve) that goes away after maybe 30 seconds.
Also the supercharger can be rebuilt or replaced if that's a problem.
I'm thinking the buyer doesn't know what he's talking about.

Lastly, what year is your car?

The car is a w203 c200 kompressor, 2001 with only 70k miles on the clock.
I’ll post a video if I can on here
It’s strange that the noise is there without the engine running.
