What's the difference between a $20 mass air flow sensor and a $170 one?

There is the potential that the $20 part is a cheap clone and won't last as long as the more expensive part if it works at all. If someone you trust has used the $20 part and found it worked, it may be worth a gamble. If you are trusting reviews on Amazon or eBay I suggest that you become familiar with the various techniques sellers use to boost their reviews.

There are helpful people on this forum. Some of them may have a bit of an “edge” but overall they give good advice. I agree that the cars have great character. However, most people experience higher maintenance and repair costs than they were accustomed to with Honda and Toyota. If you are willing to do some of your own work and have a good independent for the rest you will be okay.
