you apply it to the body of the car, but there is a lubrication you use with the clay bar. you never want to let the clay bar become dry while using it. it can scratch. it comes with a solvent you spray to keep the clay bar wet and paint wet while you are using it.

I think you've got the wrong idea Chedang. It's not a solution that you mix with water or something like that. It's actually a bar of solid clay that basically feels like playdo (but don't use playdo!).
Basically you lube up the panel you're going to clay, flatten the clay into a big cookie shape, and start wiping it against the car. The clay just grabs bits off your paint and embeds them into the clay itself. Refold it every once in a while to "swallow" the dirt inside the clay.
I understand you can use water if you want. Most retail clay bars come with a bottle of spray-on quick detailer, which works fine.
If you ever drop your clay bar on the ground, stop using it immediately. It probably picked up some big pieces of crap that will scratch your car to hell.
Oh yeah, you can learn all about this on autopia.org or by STFF.

oh yeah !! that event is going to be sweet ! It's almost like another MB meet.
Where is that thread ??? time to resurrect that one soon CITRON. I think about 20+ people had signed up initially. October sounds like a good time to remind everyone, and get definite numbers on who's going to show up.

Are any of you guys doing this free car wash with a black car???
My car is black and has zero swirl marks. I wanna keep it that way. I would think someone rushing to clean the car for free, would not be as careful as myself...
Any thoughts?

If you want to keep your car swirl-free, you are the only one that's going to care enough to do so. Like CITRON said, I wouldn't do it !

OK, let's add that one to the blacklist of dealers that are too good to wash our cars as needed.
And yes, I did take my black coupe and yes, they added swirls for no extra charge so I sold it and got a pewter silver sedan, no more swirls, same free car wash.

Went to the dealer this morning for free carwash.
I waited less than 30 min which is pretty good on Sat. monring.
I will say they did an ok job..not best ..but ok..
After driving the car home, install the flat hood emblem bought from formymercedes.com ...looks good! and best of all, wife likes it..

well, last week i finally went to get my FREE carwash and guess what, they did a quickie job. According to the guy at the service dept. at Rusnak, their department don't do the free carwashes. It's the sales department that does it. The only time the service dept. does a car wash is when you actually have a service done with them, other than that the guy that washes all the cars on the lot, does your car too and he didn't even bother washing my rims. I had to clean it my self when i got home. I mean, i didn't want to demand to my salesperson that they did a quickie job on my washing, after all it was FREE.
Well, i guess they were successful in deterring me from going back cause i ain't going back for a free car wash no more. Oh well, i guess i'll just have to wash my car my self again.
