Another Question - Regarding Audio 10

so to wire up a sub and amp to it im going to need an aftermarket headunit or an RCA convertor?!?... is it possible to put an aftermarket headunit in and still have the track changing function available on the steering wheel, like have it reconfigured, or not?

i dont think you can use an aftermarket headunit and still use the steering wheel controls. i wonder if it is possible to add in an amp without having to loose the audio10. what about upgrading with OEM components too add like a Bose Amp or something. i wonder if that is possible.

spose the easiest option would be take it to the dealer and get them to put in a Harmon Kardon sound system, because if they do this the steering wheel controls will still work and i will have better decent uprated speakers as well dont ya think?

yeah, can the dealer do that? is that an option you have in the UK. if i were you though i wouldnt loose the headunit. audio10 is a great h/u and if you can upgrade the speakers and hopefully an amp youll be good to go.

well from my experience in car entertainment installs, i did an install on a yaris which i used to own, and the standard headunit did not have an rca output, however i went down to halfords and bought an rca convertor for £7 which is attatched to the headunit by splicing up the speaker wires that go into the headunit and rapping it around these, this enables you to then connect up an amplifier to a standard headunit and then run your subwoofer from it, however wonder if it would work with the audio 10, i imagine it will, but its a new car and i dont really want to open up the dashboard, ill just leave it to the experts i think hehe

yeah the dealer can do that over here, i can purchase the harmon kardon system for £500, but im not sure whether or not that includes installation, most likely doesnt!, yeah of course we get it over here hehe, afterall we are europe and we get the newer mercedes models at least a good couple of months before you guys do

where else can you buy the mercedes components apart from the dealership, because if i can get them cheaper elsewhere than ill have more to spend on other things!

if u want to put a sub and amp in your car you all you have to do is tap into a feed from another speaker wire. They have those wires with rca's on one end and speaker wire on the other. Someone on mbklasse did a post and he shows you how to install a sub in your car from start to finish.
