I wish I could help you out more. The only thing I've heard about the illuminated door sills was that it's not a job for an amateur. I haven't done them myself, but I've heard from several people who have done them on ML's that they are rather involved, and include having to splice into the factory wire harness. Not to mention they are very expensive, at least for the ML, I'm not sure about the C-class. As soon as I personally install a set, I'll let you know how it was. But they're not very popular options, simply because of the price.

They shouldn't be that difficult to install, provided you know what you're looking for and how to take various things apart. The suggested retail price of the door sills is $400, plus labor. With labor, you're looking at probably an additional $250, easy, maybe more.

If you do this then do this as per manafacturer instructions (and get the MB dealer to print you the instructions from WIS relating to both installing the sills and installing the wiring loom for the sills when you buy the sills from him). However, its quite complicated because theres quite a lot of stuff to remove, including the rear signal-aquisition-module (which is where the loom ends up connecting to and using a spare fuse location), so i'd imagine there is a few hours labour to install.

I just purchase a set of illuminated door sills (off ebay) for my C320 and they didn't come with any instructions on how to install them. Can someone let me know how to install them.

are they oem, or aftermarket???
i hear the oem ones are a real ***** to install yourself, since the relay thing for the lights is not wired to the sill. if its oem, get a dealer to install it.... might be the safest way.

I thought I was purchasing OEM illuminated door sills but when I opened the box I found out they are after market. So that exclude me from getting the dealer to install them.

you are SOL
file some nasty feedback, and then ask around at local shops see if you can find someone to install them

My understanking of the aftermarket illuminated sills is that the positive wire should be attached to the positive terminal of the door switch and the negative wire can be connected of any convenient ground. That may be wrong, but I think I read that on and auction post at E-Bay.

It was'nt inexpensive.....
It cost eight hundred dollars.Cost 400 parts 400 labor. This was the first one installed and they said they quoted me to low. I made them stick on the price!! Had it in writing on the computer! You can buy the parts on e bay for 200.00 . Shops told me too many different stories. 2hr-6hrs. So since mine was the first c coupe at this dealers if was not easy for them. Got the car actually to find one side was not lit. They fixed it! Too much I know...but as I called all the dealers in my area they were 4 hundred dollars more.If I were made as you men then I would of done it myself. I can decorate beautifuly, sew etc. Even painted cars with my dad...but I had to pay!!
Ok...my car gets back today and I will attempt to take a picture with my digidal and try to figure out how to post!!! Truly....It looks so great!! You can't see any light during the day.

I got my illuminated sills on Ebay for $200 (aftermarket) and installed them myself. Do a search for "Illuminated Door Sills". Sometimes you just have to wait a few days before the seller posts one up. I've heard you can get other colors such as red and green... but haven't seen them around. Just Blue. But Blue is the best anyway.
