Question for all DC/VA/MD owner's or for others that sees occasion snow falls.
We all know the amount of snow that we get in the area isn't that much compare to some of our neighbor in the upper region.
My questions are:
How have you been getting around in your C's in the past year during the winter time?
Does a set of dedicate snow tire is really needed?
or
What have you been using in the past?
I have not owned any rear wheel drive car since I moved from into the area for the past 7 years. Actually, I have but it always stayed park when snow. So, I really never even thought of buying any type of winter tire for my current or past cars.
Thanks much for your input.
The Continentals are a good balance of performance for the dry days, wet handling for those rainy, gee I wish this was snow, days, and the normal volume of snow the DC area gets. Anything beyond about six inches, you probably don't want to be driving the C anyway.
The only problem I have run into the the Conti's is they have a tendency to give you a flat spot thump for about the first 5 minutes of driving that goes away after some heat gets into the tires.
You definately do NOT want to keep the Michelin Pilot Sports on during frozen winter weather. They turn into a hockey puck at about 35-40 degrees, with almost no adhesion.
I am pretty sure I will be flamed for recommending the Conti's but I have had nothing but excellent experience with them.
