Since leather is nicer, but get's hot and sticky in hot weather, I was thinking about the cloth, but the pattern is really ugly.
Do you think they'll change it up for the 2003 C230's, or will we get stuck with it for several years until they run out of that pattern.

c230 Coupe
i was just thinking the same thing today. the cloth makes it soooo cheezy inside... a solid color would be better. i looked at the cloth but didnt even consider it and ordered the leather immediately.

I hope they don't change it because it's really nice. It's what drew me to the coupe. Most other cars like it only come with vinyl or leather which is pretty and smells nice but I feel more comfortable on a cloth seat.
If you don't like it get it reupholstered. It should cost about 300-400 with your choice of fabric.

i've seen some pretty good looking leather but i'm not a big fan of it. i don't like the pattern on the cloth either. (same for the pattern on the aluminum trim) - that is, i definitely prefer cloth in general.

i think the cloth is nice, i like the pattern if it was solid i think it would look cheaper and it would not hide small marks as good.

I had the Ash cloth interior in the Bordeaux car I had first. I liked the material, and the pattern was ok. But I had never owned a car with leather and I could afford to now, so I ordered the Orion car with C5.
I think the '03 coupes will have the same ash and oyster cloth, but the fish (pattern) will be available in more colors, as they are in Europe. I agree that solid color or a different pattern would be an improvement.

The cloth on the C-Coupe is hideous. I think MB does that so people will be more inclined to order the leather interior.
They use a low MSRP to drag you into the dealership and rape you with the options afterwards. =)

Did you guys happen to notice the cloth door inset in the picture someone posted in another thread about rear side window screens for the sedan? (Was that a run-on sentence???) Anyway, it looked pretty bad to me, and I wonder if that's what's standard in Canada and other places where even leather inserts on the sedan are optional.

Hey, the MB-tex cloth has been mentioned throughout this forum - what's that all about? My E-Class rental in Germany had cloth seats but I don't remember if they were any different from the ones in the coupe. The pattern doesn't bug me really, although I'd prefer a pattern just in the weave while maintaining the same color. I prefer the cloth, it seems more comfy in any season, but lint and dust shows quickly. In a roadster/convertible, leather seats seem a must-have. Just another zipperhead with an opinion...

By the way, I also prefer cloth-upholstery in general. Leather may look much nicer, but I wouldn't like to get my buttox deep frozen in our cold winter days, wich would probably be the case if I've gone with leather

I think its kind of funny how both BMW and MB disguise their vinyl interiors by words such as MB-TEX and BMW leatherette. One salesperson told me that most of the BMW's he sells have the vinyl interior because it wears betters than the leather and does not cost extra. I Remember how just a few years ago vinyl seating was considered cheap. My how times have changed.
