How to re-install oil dipstick tube

Hi everyone, I'm putting the engine back together and have been trying to get the oil dipstick tube re-installed but can not seem to successfully navigate around all of the bends and barriers to get it to fit in the pan. I've read there's a fancy MB tube driver tool. Is this necessary? I've also heard of people cutting the tube into 2, fastening the lower portion in the hole, rubber hose in the middle and the top portion fastens to the other end of the hose. Any suggestions are welcome. TIA.

Is it possible that the only way to do this is to remove the oil pan again, fit the tube then reinstall? I've managed to get it very close to going through the pan but something is missing still...

Yep. It has to be installed together with the pan.
