C320 - Sport
Question Did dealer install correct stabilizer link?

I needed some front end work on my 2001 c320 SS and the dealer replaced the front stabilizer links (under warranty). I just took a look at them and I am amazed at how thin they are! I have a sport suspension and use it! Would any of you know if this is the correct part?

stabilizer link 203 320 28 89

Does it make a difference if it is sport or regular?

That part # is for the regular links, which I guess in 2001 were called "sport". ?
From what I've heard/seen, the sways and links were exactly the same on bot the sport & regular versions.

Many people upgraded to the C32 AMG sway bars and endlinks to feel a better "sport" effect...

C32 part #'s:
203 323 44 65 AMG front sway bar
203 323 27 40 Front Mounting brackets x 2
203 326 15 65 AMG rear sway bar
203 326 00 81 rear bushings x 2
* 203 320 26 89 end links x 2

After searching the forum, I read that the parts is close to 200. This sounds a little too low to be true. Saprissa, do you know how much they actually cost and how much does it cost to install them?

$200 is about right... but I think when people post that figure, they're only talking about the 2 sway bars, bushings and mounting brackets. I don't think they include the end links, because those are the most expensive at approx $50 each. I buy my parts through wholesale at HOEHN MB in Carlsbad or CALIBER in Anaheim or through special buddy hookup in the parts dept at MBSD. Anyway, here's a rough guide:

203 323 44 65 AMG front sway bar
List Price: $89.10 Wholesale: $66.00

203 323 27 40 Front Mounting brackets
List Price: $5.94 Wholesale: $4.40 x 2

203 326 15 65 AMG rear sway bar
not sure, bought if off forum member for $30.00

203 326 00 81 rear bushings
didn't need them, because stock ones will fit just fine, and mine were still brand new.

203 320 26 89 end links
List Price: $55.35 each Wholesale: $40.96 each

Installation, is dependent on where it's done... dealership will charge you an arm & a leg. I had mine done at a local MB Tuner shop, and did it in conjunction with my C32 AMG brakes = About 2 hours of labor at $75 an hour.
A professional installer could probably do both sway bars in 1 labor hour. CITRON, and others on this forum have installed them themselves.

additional info: C32 AMG sway bars use 12mm nuts/bolts up front and 10mm nuts/bolts in the rear. Regular C-Class uses 10mm hardware all around. So if you go with C32 AMG sways, you need the installer to decide where they will make that transition in the front. You can use your stock front end links, and they can always retread to fit the 12mm size.

Speaking of sotck front end links, I looked it up again, and found another part # for the stock set up:
203 320 08 99

the other one that ChicagoC320 listed was 203 320 28 89. So I don't know if one is a newer version or size than the other. Would have to check at the dealer, to see if it's a replacement (upgraded) part.

Saprissa, Thank you for your info!

I purchased the car in Feb of 2001 with the "C6 Sport" option. I didn't remember exactly what C6 included but assumed it had to include an upgraded sway bar! I looked back at the info and it doesn't, only different shocks/struts!

I double checked the service reciept to make sure I had the correct numbers. It says replace stabilizer link and lists the number I gave (203 320 28 89) with a description of "rod, Torsion". The dealer also replace my control arms (front upper and lower). The car just seemed a little "softer" but I could be imagining it... I crawled under and was surprised by the size of the links (thin), but I guess that's what they use.

One more thing 203 320 28 89 was only $20 each!

Why are the AMG ones so much more expensive? Even if they were bigger I can't imagine them being that much?

i think it just goes with the territory. AMG is a premium TUNER made specifically for MB, blessed by MB, and thus of "superior" craftsmanship and quality. So they say. For all we know, they are identical parts, but because one is coded with VIN #'s for AMG vehicles, (insert = cash register sound) !!

AMG endlink part# 203 320 28 89.
Are there any other difference between the endlink for C32 and stock
versions other than one has bolt holes for 12 mm and the other for 10mm?

Are the rod size (diameter and length) the same?

thanks
